So, if any entity wants to completely own and operate a charging facility, there is no provision unless the Act is amended, said an industry official. The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission has reportedly suggested that entities entering the charging business can join hands with distribution companies or set up battery swapping facilities. Govt's electric vehicle push may hit forging biz, drive job loss: industry

The government's push towards electric vehicles with target to eliminate petro and diesel cars by 2030 would have a serious impact on the forging industry in the country, as majority of the industry is relying on autocomponent manufacturing and electric vehicle need only lesser number of components compared to the conventional fuel, says industry association."The introduction of EVs will have an adverse impact on Indian Forging Industry as 60 per cent of the forging units are into manufacturing of auto components," said S Muralishankar, President of Association of Indian Forging Industry (AIFI).Internal Combustion Engines (ICEs) have around 2000 moving parts as compared to only 20 moving parts in Electric Vehicles. Electric Vehicles do not have engine and transmission parts completely and only comprises of steering components, suspensions and axles out of the forged auto components.
