Citroen inks MoU with CAB-EEZ Infra Tech to supply 2,000 units of e-C3 EVs

French carmaker Citroen on Monday said it will supply 2,000 units of its electric vehicle e-C3 to urban e-mobility player CAB-EEZ Infra Tech Pvt Ltd over the year. The two companies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), under which the first 100 units of e-C3 were flagged off, Citroen India said in a statement. This further augments 200 e-C3 units already part of the Cab-E fleet taking the total to over 300 units operating across Mumbai and Pune, it added. "Cab-E has been one of the early adopters of the e-C3. Their continued choice of this product is a validation of Citroen's proposition as a key player in promoting sustainable transportation solutions," Citroen India Brand Director, Shishir Mishra said. TVS Motor recalls select units of iQube electric two-wheeler for inspection

TVS Motor Company on Friday said it is recalling a select set of iQube electric two-wheeler units for a "proactive inspection". The company will inspect the bridge tube of units that were manufactured between July 10, 2023 and September 9, 2023 to ensure that the vehicle's ride handling is good over extended usage, it said in a statement. The company will also carry out any rectification, if required, on affected scooters at zero cost to the customer, it added. The company or its dealer partners will individually contact customers, TVS Motor said.

IIT-Jodhpur develops special adaptor to charge EVs using solar panels

IIT-Jodhpur has developed a special adaptor that will allow users to charge their electric vehicles using solar power. Prime Minister Narendra Modi in February said his government was aiming to create a system in which people can recharge their electric vehicles from the power they generate from rooftop solar systems. The adaptor, likely to be priced below Rs 1,000, could prove to be very effective if the solar panel initiative is a success, Nishant Kumar, Assistant Professor at the Electrical Engineering Department at IIT Jodhpur said. People are increasingly looking towards buying EVs and currently, the government is also providing subsidies for them, Kumar said. "On one side, our charging adaptor will be connected to the solar panel and on the other, to the charger provided by the company. Hero MotoCorp to acquire additional 2.2% stake in Ather for Rs 124 cr

Hero MotoCorp on Thursday said it will acquire an additional 2.2 per cent stake in Ather Energy for Rs 124 crore. Investment is being made in the form of purchase of additional shares from an existing shareholder of Ather Energy for acquisition of up to 2.2 per cent, Hero MotoCorp said in a regulatory filing. The acquisition entails an investment of up to Rs 124 crore and is expected to be completed by July 31, 2024, it added. Hero MotoCorp currently holds a 39.7 per cent stake in Ather Energy. Bengaluru-based Ather Energy is engaged in designing, manufacturing, producing, selling, servicing, software development, and software management, in relation to electric automobiles and charging infrastructure. The company is also engaged in storage, distribution, and management systems of electric power (including energy in the form of batteries) and other ancillary services. Ather Energy posted Rs 1,753.8 crore revenue in FY24.

India unveils $500 bn investment opportunities in clean energy by 2030

India offers huge investment opportunities worth over USD 500 billion, particularly in clean energy value chain including renewables, green hydrogen and EV, by 2030, the commerce ministry said on Thursday. This was stated by Commerce Secretary Sunil Barthwal, who is in Singapore for the two-day meet of the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity (IPEF) Clean Economy Investor Forum. The meeting, which started on Wednesday, brought together the region's top investors, clean economy companies, and start-ups to mobilise investments into sustainable infrastructure, climate technology, and renewable energy projects. The 14-member IPEF bloc was launched jointly by the US and other partner countries of the Indo-Pacific region on May 23, 2022, in Tokyo. Together, they account for 40 per cent of the world's economic output and 28 per cent of trade. Electric two-and three-wheeler battery swapping network operator Battery Smart said on Monday that it has entered into a partnership with e-grocery and quick commerce service platform Zepto as part of which it will provide delivery partners access to over 1,000 battery-swapping facilities.
