We'll integrate artificial intelligence in all branches: AICTE Chairperson

All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) chairperson TG Sitharam on Friday said artificial intelligence (AI) will be integrated into all branches of technical education. While AICTE had introduced a BTech programme in AI and Data Science as early as 2017, the Council is now working to include AI in the model curriculums of all technical disciplines, including engineering, information technology, and management studies, Sitharam told PTI. "A committee of experts has been constituted to suggest necessary revisions in the model curriculums. This committee has already held three meetings. I expect the panel to submit its recommendations within the next month on how AI can be incorporated across all branches. Two months after that, we aim to finalise the updated model curriculums," he said. The abrupt closure of FIITJEE centres in Noida and Ghaziabad sent parents fuming, and to the firm's institute in Noida's Sector 62, where they denounced the company through slogans and demanded the government's intervention getting it punished. The founder of FIITJEE and 11 other people were booked after several of its centres in Delhi-NCR abruptly shut down, the Noida Police said on Saturday. CBSE inspects 29 schools for 'dummy' students, plans legal action

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducted a series of surprise inspections at 29 schools in Delhi, Bengaluru, Varanasi, Bihar, Gujarat and Chhattisgarh to check enrolment of 'dummy' students, officials said on Thursday. According to CBSE Secretary Himanshu Gupta, a total of 29 teams, comprising a CBSE officer and a principal from an affiliated school, conducted the inspections. "Majority of the inspected schools were found to have violated the Board's Affiliation Bye-Laws by enrolling students beyond their actual attendance records, effectively creating 'non-attending' enrolments. Additionally, schools were found to be flouting infrastructural norms of the board," Gupta said. "CBSE has taken these violations seriously and is in the process of issuing show-cause notices to the schools found in breach of regulations. UPSC delays ESE-2025 after change in railways officers recruitment scheme

The UPSC on Friday postponed the Engineering Services Examination-2025 to give sufficient time to the aspirants for preparation, following a change in scheme for the recruitment of Indian Railway Management Service officers, according to an official statement. The decision came after the government decided that the recruitment to the IRMS would be made through both the Civil Services Examinations and the ESE. In order to give sufficient time to the aspirants of ESE-2025 to prepare for the examination, the Commission has decided to postpone the ESE (Preliminary) and ESE (Main) Exam, 2025, said the statement issued by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). "The ESE (Preliminary) 2025 and ESE (Main) 2025 will now be held on 8th June 2025 and 10th August 2025, respectively," it added. As per the UPSC's annual programme of examination, 2025, the notification for the ESE-2025 was issued on September 18, 2024, with the last date of receipt of applications being October 8, 2024. The

Garuda Construction and Engineering's Rs 264 crore IPO to open on Oct 8

Garuda Construction and Engineering Ltd on Thursday said it has fixed a price band of Rs 92-95 per share for its Rs 264-crore Initial Public Offering (IPO). The initial share sale will open for public subscription on October 8 and conclude on October 10, the Mumbai-based company announced. The IPO is a mix of fresh issue of 1.83 crore equity shares and an Offer For Sale (OFS) of 95 lakh equity shares by promoter PKH Ventures. The IPO size has been pegged at Rs 264 crore at the upper end of the price band. Proceeds from its fresh issuance to the extent of Rs 100 crore will be utilised for working capital requirements; and balance towards general corporate purposes including unidentified inorganic acquisitions. Half of the issue size has been reserved for qualified institutional buyers, 35 per cent for retail investors and the remaining 15 per cent for non-institutional investors. Investors can bid for a minimum of 157 equity shares and in multiples of 157 equity shares thereafter

Engine maker GE Aerospace plans to increase sourcing of components from India, which is a growing aviation market, a senior company official has said. The company has a manufacturing facility in Pune and the John F Welch Technology Centre in Bengaluru. Currently, it has 13 major suppliers, including Tata Advanced Systems Ltd (TASL). Mahendra Nair, Group Vice President for Commercial Programs at GE Aerospace, said India's contribution to the supply chain will increase.
