Mariah Carey opens up about her battle with bipolar disorder

Mariah Carey has revealed that she suffers from a bipolar disorder. The singer-songwriter told People magazine that she was first diagnosed with the disorder in 2001, when she was hospitalised for a physical and mental health breakdown. I didn't want to believe it... Until recently I lived in denial and isolation and in constant fear someone would expose me. It was too heavy a burden to carry and I simply couldn't do that anymore. I sought and received treatment, I put positive people around me and I got back to doing what I love writing songs and making music," Carey said. Films shot in U'khand exempted from shooting charges

The Uttarakhand government today cleared a proposal exempting films which are shot in the state from shooting charges, a move to promote the hill state, an official said. Regional language films shot in Uttarakhand were till date charged Rs 15,000 per monthwhereas films shot in other languages were charged Rs 10,000 per day as per the provisions of Uttarakhand Film Policy 2015. The new amendment to the policy approved by Governor K K Paul today exempts all films shot in the state from shooting charges, said a government order issued today. However, film producers will have to pay entry or parking fees at the shooting venues as applicable, it said. Uttarakhand's scenicbeauty has always lured film makers. Dulhan Ek Raat Ki, Kati Patang, Arman,Student Of The Year, Koi Mil Gaya are some of the movies which were shot in the state. Actor Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor recently shot their upcoming film 'Metre Chalu Batti Gul' in Tehri and Rishikesh.

WCC urges intervention of Ker CM to release panel report

An outfit of women in Malayalam film industry today expressed concern over the delay in releasing the study report of a Kerala government appointed commission on gender discrimination in the industry. The members of the "Women in Cinema Collective" submitted a representation in this regard to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, requesting his urgent intervention in the matter, the WCC said in its Facebook post. The state government had in May last year appointed a commission headed by former high court judge K Hema to look into the problems faced by women in Malayalam film industry on the basis of a memorandum submitted by WCC. It was for the first time that such a panel was set up to study the problems in the film industry. "We were sure that the study report could expose the problems of the industry and suggest solutions," the collective said. Saudi Arabia to make Cannes debut this May

Saudi Arabia will be for the first time participating in the 71st Cannes Film Festival in France, which is set to run from May 8 to 19, 2018.The move comes a few months after the country lifted its 35-year ban on public cinemas.The country's new film organisation, the Saudi Film Council, will have a dedicated pavilion at the 'Marche du Film', reported The Hollywood Reporter."The kingdom looks forward to its debut presence at the festival. Alex Garland 'The Toymaker's Secret' lands at TriStar Pictures

Tristar Pictures has landed the rights to Alex Garland's "The Toymaker's Secret". The 47-year-old director has penned the script of the film, but will not be helming it, reported Variety. Garlands has films such as "Annihilation" and "Ex Machina" to his directing credit. He has also written screenplays for movies "28 Days Later", "Sunshine", and "Never Let Me Go". Madras HC vacates interim stay on film "Kaali" with rider

The Madras High Court today vacated the interim stay on the release of the tamil film "Kaali," subject to the condition that the producer and actor deposits Rs 2 crore to the credit of the civil suit pending before it. A Division Bench of Justices R Subbiah and Audikesavulu vacated the stay following an appeal filed by producer-cum-actor Vijay Antony against the order of a single judge, stalling the release of his movie. The bench then directed Antony to furnish a bank guarantee for the sum in the name of Registrar General of the High Court towards the account of the civil suit which was pending adjudication before it in the matter. On April 6, a single judge of the court had passed the interim order staying the release of the movie till April 11. The order was passed on the plea filed by one William Alexander, proprietor of Picture Box Company, against Fathima Vijay Antony, proprietor of Vijay Antony Pictures.
