Tom Hanks to play Fred Rogers 'You Are My Friend' biopic

Veteran actor Tom Hanks has been roped in to play TV personality Fred Rogers in the biopic "You Are My Friend". The 61-year-old actor will immortalise the star of the long-running children's TV series "Mr Rogers' Neighborhood" on celluloid, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Marielle Heller is attached as director, who will helm the film from a screenplay by Micah Fitzerman-Blue and Noah Harpster. The movie is inspired by a real-life friendship between Rogers and award-winning journalist Tom Junod, who sees a change in his perspective on life after he begrudgingly accepts an assignment to write a profile piece on the TV icon. The film goes into production in September. Documentary "Won't You Be My Neighbor?", with Rogers as the subject, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival this year.

Reddy's clothing line will focus on the black-and-white spectrum in the colour palette, read a statement. The collection will flaunt embroidery with details, breathable fabrics, ruffles and sheen, alongside staying true to monochrome. The LFW Summer/Resort 2018 begins tomorrow. It will conclude on February 4.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali-directed "Padmaavat" has started a debate on whether the film glorifies the banned archaic practice of 'jauhar' (self-immolation) and actor Shahid Kapoor says people need to watch the period drama keeping in mind the era in which it was set.
