Vidya Balan to play Math genius Shakuntala Devi in her next

Actor Vidya Balan has been roped in to play the role of math genius Shakuntala Devi in her next, to be directed by Anu Menon. Set for summer 2020 release, the film will be produced by Vikram Malhotra-led Abundantia Entertainment. Shakuntala Devi, the mathematical wizard, was known for her ability to make incredibly swift calculations. Shakuntala's genius was first discovered at the age of 5, when she solved a math problem for 18-year-old students. "I am extremely excited to play the 'human computer' Shakuntala Devi on the big screen. She was truly someone who embraced her individuality, had a strong feminist voice and braved many a naysayer to reach the pinnacle of success," Vidya said in a statement. 'Veteran' remake with Salman will be bigger, says Atul Agnihotri

Actor-producer Atul Agnihotri says his brother-in-law Salman Khan will play the role of a detective in the remake version of "Veteran", which will be bigger and larger than the original Korean film. Atul has acquired the rights of the original film. "I saw the film and I liked it. I thought it is an opportunity to make it with him. It is a class film. I showed him the film and he felt the same. Chris Hemsworth, Tiffany Haddish to star in 'Down Under Cover'

Chris Hemsworth and Tiffany Haddish are teaming up for a buddy cop action comedy, "Down Under Cover". According to The Hollywood Reporter, the duo will set out together to solve a crime. Hemsworth plays a cop who has to go undercover to solve a bunch of Casino heists where the perpetrators of the crime are suspected to be a troupe of Australian erotic dancers. He is paired with a partner who no one else will work with, to be played by Haddish. She portrays a lone wolf cop who clashes with the Hemsworth's course of investigation in the movie. The movie has been scripted by Peter Hoare. The film will be introduced at Cannes by CAA and FilmNation, which will be handling its international sales. Disney announces new release date for 'Avatar' sequel

'Avatar' fans will have to wait a little longer for the release of its sequel as the release date of the upcoming film has been postponed.The long-awaited 'Avatar 2' will now release hit the theatres on December 17, 2021, instead of December 18, 2020, reported Variety.The move also means that 'Avatar 3' will now release on December 22, 2023, rather than on December 17, 2021, 'Avatar 4' will open on December 19, 2025, instead of December 2024 and 'Avatar 5' will release on December 17, 2027.The upcoming sequel is being directed by James Cameron and will introduce seven young cast members who will take a trip to Pandora.The news comes as a part of a larger shift in release dates announced by Walt Disney Studios. Richard Madden in talks to star in Marvel's 'The Eternals'

"Bodyguard" star Richard Madden is in negotiations to join Marvel Studio's "The Eternals". According to Variety, the actor, best known for playing Rob Stark in "Game of Thrones", will feature as Ikaris, a member of the human offshoot race known as the Eternals. Madden is the latest addition to the MCU film, which already has Angelina Jolie and Kumail Nanjiani on board. Marvel declined to comment on the casting. Created by Jack Kirby in 1976, the story of "The Eternals" is set millions of years ago when the cosmic beings known as the celestials genetically experimented on humans to create super-powered individuals known as the Eternals along with the villainous Deviants. Chloe Zhao is directing the film from a script by Matthew and Ryan Firpo. Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige is producing.

'Detective Pikachu' 'leaks' online, Ryan Reynolds to the rescue

In a first, the team of "Detective Pikachu" created its own "leak" copy of the film and Ryan Reynolds, the voice of the beloved Pokemon, brought it to Warner Bros attention on social media in his signature wry humour. Days ahead of its theatrical release, the 1 hour 42 minute-long supposedly 'pirated' footage found its way on the Internet with an 'R Reynolds' watermark placed quite conspicuously in the clip. The video, titled 'Pokemon Detective Pikachu: Full Picture', was shared from a Twitter account called Inspector Pikachu. Reynolds retweeted the post and "informed" the studio and the movie's official account on the microblogging site about the supposed "leak". "Attn @DetPikachuMovie @warnerbros. Leak..." wrote the actor. At the first glance, it seems that it could be a pirated copy of the film but the video is a well thought-out and funny marketing gimmick, which shows Pikachu dancing to Bobby King's "I Cannot Hear You" for almost two hours straight.
