Jon Hamm, Ed Harris join cast of 'Top Gun: Maverick'

The cast of "Top Gun: Maverick" has become bigger with actors Jom Hamm and Ed Harris coming aboard it. Actor Tom Cruise, who fronted the original 1986 action drama, is all set to reprise his role of aviator Pete "Maverick" Mitchell in the follow-up. The film, to be directed by "Oblivion" helmer Joseph Kosinski from a script by Peter Craig, will explore Maverick's time in the modern military, as he tries to adjust in the world of drones and modern tech. Hamm, 47, and Harris, 67, join Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly and Val Kilmer in the project, reported Deadline. However, their character details have not been revealed as of yet. The film's cast also include Charles Parnell, Jay Ellis, Bashir Salahuddin, Danny Ramirez and Monica Barbaro in the supporting roles. The project is being produced by Jerry Bruckheimer for Jerry Bruckheimer Films and David Ellison for Skydance, and is expected to release in July next year. Ben Affleck back to rehab after Jennifer Garner intervenes

Actor-director Ben Affleck has reportedly checked into a rehabilitation facility at the insistence of his ex-wife Jennifer Garner. The "Justice League" star will be undergoing a professional treatment after Garner "begged" him to seek help for his alcohol issues, reported TMZ. Garner intervention came after Affleck was clicked by paparazzi buying a box of alcohol and liquor. The actor was said to be "receptive" to the rehab request, and was photographed en route to a facility. The publication has claimed Affleck has now entered a "live-in facility" in LA County. This is the third time that the Oscar winner has sought treatment for his alcohol issues. In 2001, the actor completed a 30-day residential rehabilitation program for alcohol abuse. He once again checked into rehab in 2017 and later shared the news in a post on his Facebook page. Sunita Budhiraja, who has penned a biography on Pandit Jasraj, says the classical music veteran was like an open book and did not hold her back from asking difficult questions. Condoling the death of veteran journalist Kuldip Nayar, BJP president Amit Shah said today that his firm stand against the Emergency can never be forgotten and his demise is a loss to Indian journalism. The eminent journalist and author, who fiercely fought for press freedom and protecting civil liberties, passed away early today. He was 95. "My condolences on the sad demise of veteran journalist & former Rajya Sabha member, Kuldip Nayar ji. I had met him a few months back. He was full of energy and humour. Nayar ji's firm stand against Emergency can never be forgotten. His passing away is a loss to India's journalism," Shah said in tweet. Veteran journalist Kuldip Nayar dies in Delhi, president and PM send condolences

Eminent journalist and author Kuldip Nayar, who fought fiercely for press freedom and civil liberties, died here early today. He was 95. Nayar died around 12.30 am at the Escorts hospital, his elder son Sudhir Nayar said. He was suffering from pneumonia and was admitted to the hospital five days back. The veteran journalist, a proponent of India-Pakistan peace, is survived by his wife and two sons. His last rites will be performed at Lodhi crematorium in New Delhi at 1 pm. Nayar, who was born in Sialkot in Pakistan in 1923, began his career in journalism in the Urdu language press and went on to serve as editor of several newspapers, including Indian Express and The Statesman. Known not just as one of India's most respected journalists but also as an advocate for human rights, Nayar served as India's high commissioner to the United Kingdom in the 1990s and was nominated to the Rajya Sabha in 1997. Rohena Gera's 'Sir' brings down curtains at IFFM 2018

The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) 2018 officially closed its ninth edition with the screening of Rohena Gera's "Sir". The closing ceremony was laced with Bollywood performances by children and a Q&A session after the film screening. "The Big Bang Theory" is set to bow out with its finale season in 2019.
