With the assembly polls in Maharashtra just a month away, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has launched an extensive outreach programme to shape public opinion in favour of the BJP-led alliance in the state. The RSS, which is the ideological fountainhead of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has started the move in coordination with all of its affiliates, sources said. "Tolis (teams) have been formed across the state and they have started reaching out to people in their respective localities taking the message," a source told PTI. A bus carrying 45 students of a Punjab school fell into a 40-feet deep gorge near Tikkar Tal in Haryana's Panchkula district injuring two students and the driver, among four on Saturday, police said. The bus fell into the gorge near Tikkar Tal in the Morni Hills area after the driver lost control of the vehicle. The accident took place when the students of Nankana Sahib Public Senior Secondary School, Malerkotla in Punjab were going to Tikkar Tal--a tourist spot. The bus driver, two students and a tourist guide got injured while the condition of the rest of the students was alright, they said. The police said all the students, who were of Classes 9 to 12, were rescued and were taken to a hospital in Panchkula Sector-6.

The Supreme Court on Thursday refused to stay the oath taking ceremony of the Nayab Singh Saini-led BJP government in Haryana. The ceremony is scheduled to begin shortly in Haryana's Panchkula. A bench comprising Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud and Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra took strong note of the plea, and said it may impose costs on the petitioner for filing such a plea. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday alleged that central government data reveals that stubble burning in BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh and Haryana are "major contributors" to air pollution in Delhi. In the newly-elected 90-member Haryana Assembly, 96 per cent MLAs (86) are crorepatis, while 13 per cent (12) have criminal cases against them, according to an analysis by poll rights body ADR. An analysis of the affidavits of all the 90 winning candidates by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and Haryana Election Watch show a slight rise in the number of crorepati MLAs, from 93 per cent in 2019 to 96 per cent this time.
