Scaling up its CSR initiative to address climate issues at the global level, HCLTech on Tuesday announced a grant of USD 5 million over five years for combating climate change and restoring ecosystems and biodiversity across the Americas. For the last eight years, the HCLTech Grant program has been supporting India-based NGOs, and now the same has been scaled for implementation in the Americas, the company said in a statement. Every year, three NGOs with innovative and sustainable projects will receive a grant of USD 1 million. One NGO will receive USD 5,00,000, while two others will receive USD 2,50,000 each. NGOs will be selected through a rigorous screening process, it added. "Through this programme, we aim to accelerate innovation in climate projects and build a sustainable planet. HCLTech has announced a collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to push the adoption of generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) at the company and by enterprises globally. The collaboration aims to empower enterprises to leverage the power of AWS' advanced GenAI portfolio which includes Amazon CodeWhisperer, Amazon Bedrock, Amazon Titan, AWS Trainium and AWS Inferentia. Elaborating on the HCLTech-AWS alliance to accelerate GenAI adoption, the release said, "HCLTech intends to use Amazon CodeWhisperer with over 50,000 HCLTech engineers, cloud practitioners and developers to build secure applications and leverage AI responsibly, internally and for clients". Verizon Business on Thursday announced a strategic global partnership making HCLTech its primary managed network services collaborator in all networking deployments for enterprise customers in a mega deal valued at USD 2.1 billion over six years. In order "to execute the tightly-coordinated balance of responsibilities at enterprise scale", a select group of Verizon Business Global Customer Operations staff will transition to HCLTech, a release said. "HCLTech is pleased to announce the signing of a new mega deal with a Global 100 corporation today. We expect this deal to have a positive revenue impact over the next six years beginning in November 2023 with an estimated new total contract value of USD 2.1 billion over the term," HCLTech said in a separate filing.
