SC grants interim protection to former SIB chief in phone tapping case

The Supreme Court on Thursday granted interim protection from coercive action to former chief of Special Intelligence Bureau (SIB) in Telangana T Prabhakar Rao, an accused in the phone-tapping case. A bench comprising Justices B V Nagarathna and Satish Chandra Sharma directed Rao to appear before the investigation officer, and said his passport be made available to him. Rao, the key accused in the phone-tapping case, is suspected to be in the US. A Red Corner Notice was issued against him and his passport was revoked, a police official said earlier. The top court also directed Rao to give an undertaking that he would return to India within three days after the receipt of his passport. During the hearing, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta and senior advocate Sidharth Luthra vehemently opposed the plea filed by Rao seeking anticipatory bail. GMR Hyderabad Airport to acquire full control of logistics JV for ₹41 cr

GMR Airports Ltd on Wednesday said its subsidiary GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd will buy 70 per cent stake in its associate company ESR GMR Logistics Park Pvt Ltd for a little over Rs 41 crore. GMR Hyderabad Aerotropolis Ltd (GHAL), a wholly owned subsidiary of GMR Hyderabad International Airport, already holds 30 per cent stake in ESR GMR Logistics Park Pvt Ltd (EGLPPL). For the transaction, GMR Hyderabad International Airport has entered into a share purchase agreement with other shareholders. "Upon conclusion of the transaction, EGLPPL would become a wholly owned subsidiary of GHIAL," a regulatory filing said. EGLPPL, an associate company of GMR Hyderabad International Airport, is into development of warehousing and logistics park in Hyderabad. Multi-disciplinary team to submit report on Hyderabad fire: Minister

The Telangana government has asked five departments, including fire and police, to go into the devastating fire in a building that left 17 people dead and submit a report, state Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said on Monday. The officials of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), fire, police, revenue department and the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) would jointly probe the tragedy and submit a report to the government, Prabhakar, in-charge minister for Hyderabad, told PTI. The officials are expected to visit the building near the Charminar on Monday and have already submitted a preliminary report on the incident. 17 killed in fire at building near Hyderabad; PM Modi offers condolences

As many as 13 people, including four children, were killed in a massive fire that broke out at a building in Gulzar House near the historic Charminar on Sunday. A senior official of a private hospital here told PTI that eight people were brought dead. Unfortunately 8 patients were brought dead to Yashoda Hospital, Malakpet, hospital sources said. The deceased include two childrenaged two and seven besides three women, the sources said. Apollo Hospitals in a statement said they received five people with burn and inhalation injuries and all were declared brought dead. Hyderabad holds max vacant office space at 284 lakh sq ft: Vestian

Hyderabad has maximum vacancy in office space at 284 lakh sq ft among seven major cities amid strong supply in last few years, according to real estate consultant Vestian. As per the Vestian data as of March 2025, Hyderabad has a total office stock of 1,620 lakh square feet, of which 284 lakh sq ft or 17.5 per cent area is vacant and yet to be rented out to corporates. The vacancy in Hyderabad came down to 17.5 per cent from 19 per cent as no fresh supply came into the market during January-March period of this year. After Hyderabad, the consultant data showed that Delhi-NCR has vacant office space of 232 lakh sq ft out of total office stock of 1,364 lakh sq ft. The vacancy rate in Delhi-NCR is 17 per cent. Bengaluru, the country's most prominent office market, has a stock of 2,805 lakh square feet and out of that 7.5 per cent or 210 lakh sq ft is vacant. In Chennai, the office vacancy is 7.1 per cent. Foxconn India revenue tops $20 billion in FY25, staff strength hits 80K

Taiwanese electronics manufacturing major Foxconn is reported to have more than doubled its revenue in India to over USD 20 billion (about Rs 1.7 lakh crore) in the financial year 2024-25 on account of a jump in iPhone production, sources aware of the development said. The company is also learnt to have increased its total employee count in the country by over 65 per cent to around 80,000 in fiscal year 2025, industry and government sources aware of the estimates told PTI. "Foxconn revenue in India has more than doubled to over USD 20 billion in the financial year 2024-25. The employee count has also gone over 80,000," one of the sources said. DRDO hits key milestone in scramjet engine development with ground test

The Defence Research and Development Organisation on Friday conducted scramjet combustor ground testing for more than 1,000 seconds with the defence ministry saying the DRDO has achieved a "significant" milestone in the field of hypersonic weapon technology. Defence Research & Development Laboratory (DRDL), a Hyderabad-based laboratory of the DRDO, has taken the initiative in developing a long-duration supersonic combustion ramjet or scramjet powered hypersonic technology. DRDL conducted the "long-duration active cooled scramjet subscale combustor ground testing for more than 1,000 seconds at the newly built state-of-the-art Scramjet Connect Test Facility at Hyderabad", the defence ministry said in a statement. Telangana tunnel search operations to finish in 15 days: Srinivas Reddy

Telangana Revenue Minister P Srinivas Reddy on Wednesday said the ongoing search operations at SLBC tunnel where the fate of six persons trapped were still unknown, are expected to be completed in 15 days. Eight individualsincluding engineers and labourerswere trapped in the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) project tunnel when a portion of it collapsed on February 22. So far, two bodies have been recovered from the debris in the tunnel. Personnel from state, central and private agencies are engaged in the search operations. Addressing the mediapersons at the tunnel site, Reddy said about 700-800 experts from various institutions have worked day and night under the supervision of the authorities for the 40 days and currently, around 550-560 people are continuing the search operations with state-of-the-art equipment. A protest rally by students and faculty of the University of Hyderabad (UoH) against the Telangana government's plans to develop a 400-acre land parcel in Kancha Gachibowli bordering the varsity, was stopped by the police here on Wednesday.
