As many as 13 people, including four children, were killed in a massive fire that broke out at a building in Gulzar House near the historic Charminar on Sunday. Hyderabad has maximum vacancy in office space at 284 lakh sq ft among seven major cities amid strong supply in last few years, according to real estate consultant Vestian. As per the Vestian data as of March 2025, Hyderabad has a total office stock of 1,620 lakh square feet, of which 284 lakh sq ft or 17.5 per cent area is vacant and yet to be rented out to corporates. The vacancy in Hyderabad came down to 17.5 per cent from 19 per cent as no fresh supply came into the market during January-March period of this year. After Hyderabad, the consultant data showed that Delhi-NCR has vacant office space of 232 lakh sq ft out of total office stock of 1,364 lakh sq ft. The vacancy rate in Delhi-NCR is 17 per cent. Taiwanese electronics manufacturing major Foxconn is reported to have more than doubled its revenue in India to over USD 20 billion (about Rs 1.7 lakh crore) in the financial year 2024-25 on account of a jump in iPhone production, sources aware of the development said. The company is also learnt to have increased its total employee count in the country by over 65 per cent to around 80,000 in fiscal year 2025, industry and government sources aware of the estimates told PTI. The Defence Research and Development Organisation on Friday conducted scramjet combustor ground testing for more than 1,000 seconds with the defence ministry saying the DRDO has achieved a "significant" milestone in the field of hypersonic weapon technology. Defence Research & Development Laboratory (DRDL), a Hyderabad-based laboratory of the DRDO, has taken the initiative in developing a long-duration supersonic combustion ramjet or scramjet powered hypersonic technology. DRDL conducted the "long-duration active cooled scramjet subscale combustor ground testing for more than 1,000 seconds at the newly built state-of-the-art Scramjet Connect Test Facility at Hyderabad", the defence ministry said in a statement. "With the successful test, the system will be soon ready for full scale flight worthy combustor testing," it said. Telangana Revenue Minister P Srinivas Reddy on Wednesday said the ongoing search operations at SLBC tunnel where the fate of six persons trapped were still unknown, are expected to be completed in 15 days. Eight individualsincluding engineers and labourerswere trapped in the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) project tunnel when a portion of it collapsed on February 22. So far, two bodies have been recovered from the debris in the tunnel. Personnel from state, central and private agencies are engaged in the search operations. Addressing the mediapersons at the tunnel site, Reddy said about 700-800 experts from various institutions have worked day and night under the supervision of the authorities for the 40 days and currently, around 550-560 people are continuing the search operations with state-of-the-art equipment. The UoH Teachers Association led a rally from Ambedkar auditorium to East Campus in solidarity with the agitating students.
