The Indian Air Force is taking steps to be ever ready and future ready keeping in view the overall security scenario including the challenges of fighting a high-technology war in a network-centric future battle space, President Droupadi Murmu said on Saturday. Addressing the Combined Graduation Parade at Air Force Academy near here, she said the ability to absorb technology at a rapid pace will be essential for defence preparedness at land, sea and air. The President said together the defence forces of the country protect land frontiers, large coastline and territorial waters and a huge air space. "Each and every officer of the armed forces has to keep in mind an integrated perspective of defence preparedness," she said. Modernisation of the Indian Air Force by the induction of Rafale fighter aircraft and Chinook heavy lift choppers strengthens the operational capabilities of IAF, she opined.

The RO also pins the "Wings" and "Brevets" on the chest of the cadets, depending on the branch they are being commissioned into. The Purvanchal Expressway here will remain closed till June 25 in view of the maintenance work at the Indian Air Force airstrip in Jaisinghpur tehsil of the district, officials said. Circle officer Jaisinghpur Prashant Singh said the six-kilometre stretch of the expressway in the district was closed on June 11 for maintenance work. Security officer of Purvanchal Expressway OP Singh said that the link road built adjacent to the expressway will be used for movement of vehicles. On November 16, 2021, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 341-kilometre-long Purvanchal Expressway in Sultanpur. The prime minister had landed in a military transport aircraft on the 3.2-km stretch developed as an emergency landing strip for the IAF. The expressway begins from Chandsarai village on the outskirts of Lucknow and ends at Hadairia village on NH-31 in Ghazipur district. It cuts across nine districts, including Ayodhya, Amethi and Azamgarh.
Indian Air Force chief Air Chief Marshal V R Chaudhari on Friday said the IAF is "fully aware" of the developments that are taking place across the northern borders and asserted that since the Galwan Valley crisis in 2020, the force is continuously upgrading its capabilities and changing tactics to be able to handle any threat. President Joe Biden quipped that he got "sandbagged" Thursday after he tripped and fell but was uninjured while onstage at the US Air Force Academy graduation. Biden had been greeting the graduates in Colorado Springs, Colorado, at the front of the stage with salutes and handshakes, and turned to jog back toward his seat when he fell. He was helped up by an Air Force officer as well as two members of his US Secret Service detail. Onlookers, including some members of the official delegation onstage, watched in concern before Biden, who at age 80 is the oldest president in US history, returned to his seat to view the end of the ceremony. A Kiran trainer aircraft of the Indian Air Force (IAF) crashed in an open field at a village in the district on Thursday but the two pilots made it out safely after ejecting from the plane before the crash. The training aircraft, which took off from the air force station in Bengaluru, crashed this morning at Bhogapura village. It was good fortune that aircraft hit the ground on barren land and not in the nearby village, a villager said, adding it would have been catastrophic if the plane had crashed into the village. District officials said the pilots, identified only as Tejpal and Bhumika, sustained minor injuries. No casualties were reported. According to the IAF, the pilots were on a routine training sortie when the incident occurred. A court of inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the cause of accident. An Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft on Monday made a crash landing in Madhya Pradesh's Bhind district, a police official said. There was no casualty, he said. I have come to know that the aircraft made a crash landing. There was no fatality or injury in the landing (process)," Chambal Zone Inspector General of Police S Saxena told PTI over phone. Bhind Superintendent of Police Manish Khatri refused to speak on the incident saying the IAF spokesperson will inform about it.

An alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Air Marshal Dixit was Commissioned into the fighter stream of the Indian Air Force on December 6, 1986.
