J&K L-G orders probe into cause of Nowgam blast, says 'deeply anguished'

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday ordered a probe into the accidental blast in Nowgam police station, which left nine people dead and 32 others injured. "I have ordered a probe to ascertain the cause of the accidental explosion," Sinha said in an X post. The L-G expressed anguish over the loss of lives in the incident. "Deeply anguished by the loss of precious lives due to extremely tragic accidental blast at Nowgam police station in Srinagar. My condolences to the bereaved families. I pray for speedy recovery of the injured," he said. Sinha said the government stands in solidarity with the families, friends and loved ones of the departed. All possible assistance is being provided to those affected, he added.

White-collar terror module: Counter Intelligence Kashmir carries out raids

The Counter Intelligence wing of Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday carried out raids at several locations across the Valley in connection with the "white-collar terror module" and the recent blast near Delhi's Red Fort, officials said. The raids are currently being carried out by Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) at 13 locations, they said. Around 15 people have been detained for questioning, and several digital devices and incriminating materials have been recovered, the officials said. Further details are awaited, they added.

Unidentified terrorist killed, soldier injured in J-K's Kulgam encounter

An unidentified terrorist was killed and a soldier injured in an encounter in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, officials here said. Security forces launched a search operation in the Gudar forest area of Kulgam following information about the presence of terrorists there, the officials said. They said the search operation turned into an encounter after the terrorists opened fire at the security forces' positions. "Based on specific intelligence input by JKP, joint search operation was launched by #IndianArmy, @JmuKmrPolice & @crpf_srinagar in Guddar forest of #Kulgam," the Army's Srinagar-based Chinar Corps said in a post on X. It said vigilant troops observed suspicious activity and upon being challenged, terrorists opened fire, "prompting a fierce exchange of gunfire during which one terrorist has been eliminated and a junior commissioned officer suffered injuries". The operation is in progress, the Chinar Corps said.

An encounter broke out between terrorists and security forces in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, officials said. The security forces had launched a search operation in Dool area of the hilly district following specific information about the presence of terrorists, they said. On noticing the security search parties, the hiding terrorists, believed to be two in number, opened fire, leading to a gunfight, they added. Army's White Knight Corps confirmed the encounter in an X post. It said the alert troops, while carrying out an intelligence-based operation, have established contact with terrorists in the early hours on Sunday and exchanged gunfire. The Army said the operation is under progress.

Anti-terror op in Kulgam enters seventh day, 3 security personnel injured

Three security force personnel were injured in a fresh firefight on Thursday as the anti-terror operation in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district entered the seventh day, the longest so far this year, officials said. Army's Northern Commander Lt Gen Pratik Sharma reviewed the security situation and counter-terrorism grid in South Kashmir, where he was also briefed on the ongoing operation. "The operation has entered its seventh day and is going on," the officials said. They said three security forces personnel were injured in the fresh firefight on Thursday morning. Parks reopened at tourist destinations in J-K, including some in Pahalgam

Several parks in Jammu and Kashmir's tourist places, including some in Pahalgam, that were closed in the aftermath of the April 22 terror attack were reopened on Tuesday, officials said. The reopening of the parks has been welcomed by the tourists and local visitors alike who thronged the parks at several places. Pahalgam terror attack: NIA takes over probe, question eyewitnesses

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken over the probe into the Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 people were killed, officials said on Sunday. The teams, overseen by an Inspector General of Police, a Deputy Inspector General of Police and a Superintendent of Police from the anti-terror agency, are examining the eyewitnesses to the attack that took place on Tuesday at Baisaran valley in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, they said.
