Amit Shah visits Jammu-Kashmir, reviews security situation with LG

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday reviewed the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir ahead of the Amarnath pilgrimage, sources said. Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla and top officials of the intelligence agencies, paramilitary forces, police and the civil administration attended the meeting here. At the meeting, the home minister took stock of the security situation and was given a detailed briefing, sources said. Shah was apprised about the situation along the International Border as well as the Line of Control, they said. Shah lays foundation of forensic laboratory, inaugurates multiple projects

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday laid the foundation stone of a central forensic science laboratory in Samba and inaugurated several development projects in Jammu. Addressing an event here, Shah highlighted the progress being made in Jammu and Kashmir under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He listed various projects being implemented in the region. Infiltration bid foiled in J-K's, four terrorists killed in joint operation

Four terrorists were killed as security forces foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Machil sector on Friday, police said. The infiltration bid was foiled in Kala Jungle area of Machil sector in north Kashmir's Kupwara district. Make plan to ensure smooth flow of traffic during Amarnath Yatra: Official

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Secretary Arun Kumar Mehta Thursday directed for framing a proper plan to ensure smooth flow of traffic during the annual Amarnath Yatra, which is scheduled to begin next month. Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Jammu and Kashmir on June 23 and 24 during which he will attend various development programmes in Jammu and Srinagar, sources said. Apni Party protests in J-K against ration, electricity supply curtailment

Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP) on Monday took out a protest march here against the curtailment in the supply of ration and electricity in the Valley. Scores of JKAP activists, led by the provincial president Kashmir Mohammad Ashraf Mir, assembled at the party office in Church Lane, in Sonwar area of the city and started their march towards the main road. Two earthquakes of mild intensity hit J&K's Doda, no damage reported

Two mild intensity earthquakes shook the mountainous Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir early Sunday, officials said. The Union Territory of Ladakh also recorded a mild tremor late Saturday. There was no report of any damage reported from anywhere, the officials said. According to the National Centre of Seismology (NCS), a 4.1 magnitude earthquake having a depth of 11 km at a latitude of 32.96 degrees north and a longitude of 75.79 degrees east struck Doda at 3.50 am. The second tremor at a depth of 10 km at a latitude of 33.01 degrees north and a longitude of 75.78 degrees east was felt at 5.22 am, the nodal government agency for monitoring of earthquake activity said. Officials said the first earthquake woke people from their sleep and forced them to rush out of their homes. So far, 10 tremors with a varied intensity have jolted Doda in the past six days. J&K witnessing improvement in security due to counter-terrorist operations

Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed a marked improvement in the security situation over the last couple of months due to sustained counter-terrorist operations and the tightening of anti-infiltration grids, sources said on Friday.
