E-commerce giant Amazon India on Wednesday signed an agreement with the Indian Coast Guard (ICG), under the Ministry of Defence, to provide ex-service personnel with work opportunities across the company. With this Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), Amazon India will collaborate with the ICG to help ex-servicemen from military backgrounds pursue their corporate careers through opportunities at Amazon or in other corporate roles, the company said in a statement. "Due to the deep appreciation of the wealth of experience and unique perspective of ex-service personnel, Amazon runs the Military Veterans Employment Programme globally. "A significant 82 per cent of working professionals expressed concerns over potential job redundancy due to emerging technologies. The Net Apprenticeship Outlook (NAO) metric could see a 75 per cent jump in the second half of the fiscal year, as per a report. According to the Teamlease Degree Apprenticeship's 2023 Outlook Report, the NAO increased to 56 per cent and 66 per cent in the same period in the past two years, respectively. India's largest IT services company TCS on Sunday said it has fired 16 employees and barred six vendors in connection with a recruitment scam. Our investigation found 19 employees to be involved16 employees have been separated from the company for code of conduct violations, and three employees have been removed from the resource management function, the company said in a late evening statement. It also added that six vendors, their owners and affiliates have been debarred from doing any business with TCS. Flexi staffing industry logged 14 per cent growth in new jobs in the country in 2022-23, Indian Flexi Staffing Federation (IFS) said on Tuesday. Members of the industry body ISF collectively added 1.77 lakh new flexi jobs in FY23, driven by the surge in employment particularly in key sectors such as e-commerce, logistics, manufacturing, tourism and hospitality, FMCG, consumer durables, and healthcare, a statement said. Women's participation in the flexi workforce continued to account for 24 per cent in FY'2023. These findings were unveiled in the ISF's Annual Flexi Staffing Industry Employment Trend Report -2023, which was released on Tuesday.
