Kia India to hike car prices by up to 3% from April to offset input costs

Kia India on Tuesday said it will hike vehicle prices up to 3 per cent from April in order to offset the impact of rising input costs. The price hike, effective from April 1, 2025, is primarily due to rising commodity prices and escalating supply chain-related costs, the automaker said in a statement. "As a brand committed to providing exceptional value and quality to our customers, we have always strived to offer the best vehicles at competitive prices," Kia India Senior Vice President (Sales and Marketing) Hardeep Singh Brar said. However, due to the rising costs of commodities and input materials, the automaker will be increasing up to 3 per cent price across all models, effective from April 1, he added. "While we understand that price adjustments can be challenging, this decision has been made to ensure we can continue delivering the high-quality, technologically advanced vehicles that our customers expect from Kia," Brar said. Raising taxes on EVs will make electrification path difficult: Kia India MD

Increase in tax on electric vehicles will make it difficult for the electrification journey of the Indian automotive industry, Kia India Managing Director and CEO Gwanggu Lee said on Thursday. The company, which unveiled its new company SUV Syros, is looking at around 17 per cent sales growth next year at 3 lakh units as compared to 2.55 units expected this year. A big burden for EVs is still the high price, Lee told PTI here in an interaction. "So without any tax incentive from the government it is very difficult," he said when asked about the impact on possible increase in tax on EVs. New EVs at present attract 5 per cent GST. There has been speculation that the GST rate on used EVs, currently taxed at 12 per cent, may be reclassified into the higher 18 per cent tax slab. Kia India currently sells two EV models -- EV6 with price starting at Rs 60.96 lakh and EV9 tagged at Rs 1.3 crore. Lee cited the example of Canada where sales of EVs crashed when the incentives on EVs were .

Kia India to increase prices of vehicles by up to 3% from April 1

Kia India on Thursday said it will increase prices of its range of vehicles by up to 3 per cent from April 1, 2024. The decision is attributed to the escalation in commodity prices and supply chain-related inputs, the automaker, which sells models like Seltos, Sonet and Carens, said in a statement. It marks the first price adjustment by the company this year, Kia India said. Commenting on the development, Kia India National Head Sales and Marketing Hardeep Singh Brar said the company consistently strives to deliver premium and technologically advanced products to customers. "However, due to the continuous increase in commodity prices, adverse exchange rate and rising input cost, we are compelled to implement a partial price hike," he added. The company is absorbing a significant portion of the increase, allowing customers to continue driving their favourite Kia cars without a major dent in their pockets, Brar stated. Kia has sold almost 1.16 million units in India and overseas .
