Raju alias Hakla was involved in more than 113 cases of murder, attempt to murder, dacoity, robbery, snatching, among others. Officials of several police stations were searching for him, the officer said. Acting on a tip off, a Crime Branch team laid a trap near the expected place of his arrival in the early hours on Wednesday. The accused's car was intercepted and he was instructed to surrender, police said. Instead of doing so, he fired upon the police party and tried to flee, they added. He fired at a head constable, but missed. In retaliation a policeman also fired a round in the air from his service pistol and the police team manage to overpower the accused from Pushpanjali Farm House in Kapashera, they said.
A sweeper at a private school was Thursday arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a three-year-old girl, the police said. Komal, employed with the preparatory school here, was arrested from his residence in Gurgaon. He was booked under Section 6 (aggravated penetrative sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. According to the Gurgaon Police PRO, the incident took place inside the school toilet on Wednesday when Komal saw the victim alone. It came to light when the girl returned home and complained of pain in her private parts. Her parents approached the school management and Komal was identified by the girl as the perpetrator. "The victim's parents lodged a complaint against the accused following which he was arrested," the police said.

A three-member medical board Thursday carried out a post-mortem on the body of the Pakistani prisoner who was allegedly killed by fellow inmates at the Central Jail here. Dr Nand Lal, who was part of the board of doctors from the government-run Sawai Man Singh Hospital, said the examination was conducted under the supervision of a judicial magistrate. The post-mortem report will be submitted to the magistrate, he said. The body of Lashkar-e-Taiba operative who was serving a life sentence is kept at the mortuary and may be handed over to the Pakistan High Commission if it asks for it, police officials said. The robbery occurred early this month when Prithvi Singh was taking the parcel of jewels on a motorycle to the airport here, when he was waylaid by a gang. Based on the CCTV footage near the parcel office, the five were picked up for questioning, city Police Commissioner Sumit Saran told reporters here. The Supreme Court Thursday appointed Lieutenant General Ravi Thodge as the third member of the Committee of Administrators (CoA) for BCCI. A bench of Justices S A Bobde and A M Sapre appointed Lt Gen Thodge as a member of CoA after senior advocate P S Narasimha, assisting the court as an amicus curiae in the BCCI matter, told the apex court that two members of the CoA have resigned. "Having regard to the importance of the said Committee of Administrators for administrating the BCCI, we consider it appropriate to appoint Lt Gen Ravi Thodge, PVSM, to act as a third member of the aforesaid Committee of Administrators for BCCI," the bench said in its order. The apex court has fixed the BCCI matter for further hearing on March 14.
