The Madhya Pradesh High Court here on Saturday directed protesting doctors in the state to call off their strike over the brutal rape and murder of a young doctor in Kolkata immediately, and return to work. Since Friday, doctors across the state have stopped work barring emergency services as part of the nationwide protest. The high court also issued notices to the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Madhya Pradesh Shaskiya and Swashasi Chikitsak Mahasangh, Prantiya Samvida Medical Officers Association and Junior Doctors Association, Madhya Pradesh after the petitioner sought that they be made respondents. The court accepted the undertaking by advocate Mahendra Pateria on behalf of the Junior Doctors Association, Gandhi Medical College, Bhopal, that their strike will be withdrawn immediately. Three persons were killed and at least five injured in a road accident involving three vehicles in Madhya Pradesh's Neemuch district on Saturday morning, police said. An official said the incident occurred on the Neemuch-Chittorgarh road. Superintendent of Police (SP) Ankit Jaiswal said a police vehicle, a pickup, and a truck were involved in this accident. Citing eyewitness accounts, Jaiswal said the pickup and police vehicle were stationary. A truck, bearing a Haryana registration number, crashed into the pickup vehicle, which further hit the police vehicle, Jaiswal said. The police vehicle got overturned due to the impact. Two occupants of the pickup vehicle, which was on its way from Indore to Ajmer, and the private driver of the police vehicle were killed in the accident, he said. At least five others were also injured in the accident, the official said. Police have seized the truck and efforts are being made to track down its driver, who fled from the spot, he added.

The government on Wednesday announced service medals for 1,037 police personnel of various central and state forces on the eve of Independence Day. According to a Union Home Ministry statement, 214 personnel will be decorated with bravery medals, including a President's Medal for Gallantry (PMG) and 231 Medal for Gallantry (GM). The GM includes four decorations for fire fighters and one for a civil defence personnel. A maximum of 52 bravery medals has been given to the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), 31 to the Jammu and Kashmir Police, 17 police personnel each from Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra, 15 from Chhattisgarh and a dozen from Madhya Pradesh. Two pilots were injured after a trainer aircraft belonging to a private aviation academy crashed at an airstrip in Madhya Pradesh's Guna district on Sunday, a police official said. The two-seater Cessna 152 plane crashed at around 1.30 pm, possibly due to engine failure, after remaining airborne for 40 minutes, Guna Cantt police station in-charge Dileep Rajoria said. Two pilots on board the plane suffered injuries. They are out of danger and have been admitted to a hospital here, he said. The largest floating solar project in central and north India generating 90 MW energy has been commissioned at Omkareshwar in Madhya Pradesh, a state minister has said. The Omkareshwar Floating Solar Project, costing Rs 646-crore, was commissioned on August 8, state Renewable Energy Minister Rakesh Shukla said in a statement. This project was developed under the Union Ministry of Renewable Energy and it is the biggest solar park in India and largest floating solar project in central and north India, he said. The project is executed by SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), a wholly owned subsidiary of SJVN, the minister said, adding that on the commissioning of the project, the total installed capacity of SJVN has increased to 2466.50 MW. The project is likely to generate 196.5 million units of electricity in the first year and 4,629.3 million units in the 25 years, he said. A five-month-old cub of African cheetah, Gamini, died at Kuno National Park (KNP) in Madhya Pradesh on Monday, an official said. The cub's health condition suddenly worsened on Monday morning and emergency treatment was given. But the cub unfortunately died, as per a release issued by the APCCF (Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forest) and Director Lion Project. During monitoring on July 29 evening, one of the five cubs of Gamini was seen unable to lift the hind portion of its body. On further observation, the cub was seen dragging the entire hind portion. She was immediately rescued and brought to the hospital. The examination found that the cub's vertebral column was fractured, as per the release. After necessary treatment, the cub was kept under intensive supervision, it said. The cause of death will be known after the autopsy. Nine children were killed and two others injured after a wall of a dilapidated house collapsed in Madhya Pradesh's Sagar district on Sunday, a senior official said. The incident took place between 8.30 am and 9 am near the campus of a temple during a religious programme in Shahpur village under Rehli assembly seat, as per officials. According to the information received so far, nine children, aged 10 to 15 years, have been killed and two injured in the wall collapse incident at the religious programme in Shahpur, Sagar Divisional Commissioner Virendra Singh Rawat told PTI over phone. The Indore bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court has directed the state government to convene a meeting of all stakeholders to discuss the classification of minimum wages according to different zones. During a hearing on Thursday, an official from the labour department informed the bench of Justices Sushrut Arvind Dharmadhikari and Duppala Venkata Ramana that the state government has agreed to fix different minimum wages according to industries. The court was hearing a plea filed in April this year, in which industrial organisations sought the classification of minimum wages in the state based on circumstances in different industries and zones. The official said the respondent/state was ready to fix minimum wages industry-wise or group of industry-wise, and as far as the region-wise classification was concerned, it is open for discussions with the petitioners. The Odisha government on Friday announced a 10 per cent quota and five years of age relaxation for Agniveers in the state's uninformed services. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi made the announcement before leaving for Delhi to attend the governing council meeting of the NITI Aayog on Saturday. "Our soldiers are our pride. Agniveers, who are trained by our defence forces, are qualified to serve the nation in various security-related sectors," he said. "The Agniveer scheme is a historic initiative launched by PM Narendra Modi. This initiative has made our youth able and fearless so that they can face various challenges in life.
