Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserted on Saturday that his "vocal for local" campaign is bearing fruits as Indian products are going global and making their presence felt across the world. Speaking at the NXT conclave where the 'NewsX World' channel was launched, Modi said the world used to look at India as its back office for decades but the country is now emerging as the factory of the world. Now, India is not the workforce but a "world force", the prime minister added. Modi said the country is manufacturing semiconductors and aircraft carriers and its superfoods like 'makhana' and millets, Ayush products and yoga are being embraced across the world. The government on Saturday announced to set up a National Manufacturing Mission to further promote Make in India initiative. The Mission's mandate will include five focus areas ease and cost of doing business; future ready workforce for in-demand jobs; a vibrant and dynamic MSME sector; availability of technology; and quality products. The scheme will cover small, medium and large industries, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said in her Budget speech. The National Manufacturing Mission, she said, will provide policy support, governance and monitoring framework for central ministries and states. "Our government will set up a National Manufacturing Mission covering small, medium and large industries for furthering Make in India," she said. Indian employees may expect an average salary increment of 9.4 per cent this year across industries, indicating strong economic growth and rising demand for skilled talent, a report said on Tuesday. Over the last five years, salary increments have steadily increased, rising from 8 per cent in 2020, to a projected 9.4 per cent in 2025, according to Total Remuneration Survey (TRS) by HR consulting firm Mercer.
