PM Modi's 'Mann ki Baat' inspired younger generation: Home min Shah

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Mann ki Baat' broadcast on Akashvani gave the public broadcaster a new lease of life by taking it to the younger generation, who was forgetting it with the advent of newer modes of entertainment, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said Wednesday. Addressing the valedictory session of a national conclave on 'Mann ki Baat@100' at Vigyan Bhawan here, he said the half-an-hour episode of 'Mann ki Baat' inspired crores of people to contribute towards the nation. Shah said the beauty of 'Mann ki Baat' is that a political person like Narendra Modi did not mention a single political issue in its 99 episodes. The broadcast will clock its 100th episode on April 30. Underlining that 'Mann ki Baat' stands on the foundation of democracy, he said a strong communication between the leader and the people makes democracy stronger. Please listen to our 'Mann Ki Baat': Protesting wrestlers to PM Modi

"Why are you not listening to our 'Mann Ki Baat'," the protesting wrestlers asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday and sought his time to discuss the sexual harassment allegations against his party's MP and WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. Country's top wrestlers resumed their agitation against the wrestling federation's chief on Sunday, three months after they ended their sit-in protest following the formation of an oversight committee to probe into the serious allegations. The Sports Ministry has not yet made public the findings of six-member oversight panel that submitted its report on April 5. The wresters on Wednesday said they are surprised that PM Modi felicitates them and clicks pictures with them when they win medals but now he has turned a blind eye to their plight when they are on road, seeking justice. "PM Modi sir talks about 'Beti Bachao' and 'Beti Padhao', and listens to everyone's 'Mann Ki Baat'. Can't he listen to our 'mann ki baat'? He invites us to h

Vice President criticises Sonia Gandhi over her "enforced silence" remarks

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Wednesday took a swipe at former Congress president Sonia Gandhi over her "enforced silence" remarks, and said the freedom of expression one enjoys in the country cannot be found anywhere else in the world. Addressing the inaugural session of the 'Mann Ki Baat @ 100 Conclave', Dhankhar also hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for keeping politics away from his monthly radio programme, which had come as a "beacon of hope" for a nation that was "losing hope and its world image had nosedived". He also slammed "an ostrich-like stance" some people take while touring foreign lands and ignore the rapid development taking place in the country. In an apparent reference to Sonia Gandhi's recent article in a newspaper alleging "enforced silence" in the country under the BJP government, Dhankhar said the freedom of expression a person enjoys in the country cannot be found anywhere in the world. "I am pained and also sometimes feel what has happened to our ...

PM urges people to opt for organ donation, says working on uniform policy

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday appealed to people to opt for organ donation, and said his government is working on a uniform policy that will make the process easy and encourage people to adopt the life-saving exercise. Those who donate their organs after death are "godlike" to recipients, he said in his monthly 'Mann ki Baat' radio broadcast, adding that people's preference for it can save and make many lives. "It is a matter of satisfaction that the awareness about organ donation is rising in the country," Modi said, noting that the condition of being a state domicile for receiving organs has been removed to allow the needy to register themselves anywhere in the country. A decision to remove the age criteria of being less than 65 years for donating organs has also been taken, he added. From less than 5,000 cases of organ donations in 2013, the number has grown to over 15,000 in 2022, he said. Organ donation from one deceased person can help eight to nine persons, he ...

India's dream of 'techade' will be fulfilled by innovators: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Sunday that domestic patent filings have outscored the country's foreign patent filings as he expressed confidence that India's dream of "techade" will be fulfilled on the strength of its innovators. This underscores the country's increasing scientific capabilities, he said in the first episode of 'Mann ki Baat' in the new year . Modi has in the past used "techade" to describe the decade being dominated by technologies and India making most of it. He said India's rank in patent filling is seventh globally while it is fifth in trademark registration. India's patent registration has risen by 50 per cent in the last five years, the prime minister said, noting that its ranking in the global innovation index has surged to 40 from below 80 in 2015. "I am confident that India's dream of techade will be fulfilled by its innovators and their patents," he said. The premier Indian Institute of Science had 145 patents in 2022 which is a rare record, Modi .
