Maruti Suzuki India expects its CNG car sales to rise over 30 per cent to around 6 lakh units this fiscal, according to a senior company official. The country's largest carmaker also aims to export around 3 lakh units in the ongoing financial year. "So CNG, this year, we did about 4,50,000 (units) in passenger vehicles. We are hoping to do something like 6,00,000 vehicles in FY24-25," Maruti Suzuki India Executive Director Corporate Affairs Rahul Bharti said in an analyst call. The company sells CNG trims across various models like WagonR, Brezza, Dzire, and Ertiga, among others in the domestic market. Bharti said the company's capacity expansion by around 1 lakh units per annum at its Manesar plant, Haryana largely addresses the Ertiga supply issues. Maruti Suzuki India on Wednesday said it has hiked the price of its hatchback Swift by up to Rs 25,000 along with an increase on a select variant of SUV Grand Vitara. The prices of Swift have been raised by up to Rs 25,000, Maruti Suzuki India said in a regulatory filing. Similarly, the price of the Sigma variant of Grand Vitara has been increased by Rs 19,000, the company said. Now, Swift is available at a price range of Rs 5.99 lakh to Rs 8.89 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The Sigma variant of Grand Vitara is priced at Rs 10.8 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), as per the company's website. The price hikes are effective April 10, 2024, the company said.
India's largest carmaker operates three manufacturing plants across the country
Maruti Suzuki India on Tuesday said it has expanded the production capacity of its Manesar facility by one lakh units per annum. The auto major has added a vehicle assembly line to the existing Plant-A of the three manufacturing plants functioning at Manesar, in Haryana. "The new vehicle assembly line has the capability to manufacture 1 lakh units per annum," Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) said in a statement. With the additional assembly line, the total manufacturing capability at Manesar stands at 9 lakh vehicles per annum, it added. "We aim to nearly double our capacity to 4 million vehicles per annum over the next 7-8 years and this capacity addition of 1 lakh vehicles per year is a step towards this goal," MSI Managing Director & CEO Hisashi Takeuchi said. It will help the company serve its customers faster and enhance overall capability to manufacture up to 23.5 lakh units per annum, he added. The company plans to launch more models in its various export markets that span over 100 countries while also enhancing distribution network, having taken best practices from India such as making bank finance available at dealerships, strengthening service facilities and parts availability to the export markets.
