Royal Enfield 350cc motorcycles now available online through Amazon India

Mid-size motorcycle maker Royal Enfield on Thursday said its entire 350cc range can be bought online as part of its collaboration with Amazon India. The purchase option is currently available for customers in five major cities: Ahmedabad, Chennai, Hyderabad, New Delhi and Pune, the company said in a statement. Classic 350, Bullet 350, Hunter 350, Goan Classic 350 and the new Meteor 350 will be available through a dedicated Royal Enfield brand store on Amazon India, it added. The delivery and after-sales service support will be provided by the customer's preferred Royal Enfield dealership in the city, Royal Enfield, which is a part of Eicher Motors, stated.

Tribunal orders ₹49.46 lakh compensation for motorcyclist's death

The Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) in Thane has awarded a compensation of Rs 49.46 lakh to the parents of a 24-year-old IT engineer who died in a road accident in 2019. The tribunal, presided over by member RV Mohite, in the order on August 2 noted the accident was a result of contributory negligence, assigning 75 per cent blame on the offending truck driver and 25 per cent to the deceased motorcyclist. The claim petition was filed by parents of the deceased, Swapnil Suresh Gulvi. According to the petition, Gulvi was riding his motorcycle on January 11, 2019, on Ghodbunder Road in Maharashtra's Thane city where he attempted to overtake a bus from the right near a bus stop. The bus driver allegedly applied sudden brakes, causing the motorcycle to collide with it and the rider to fall. Centre asks states to act against makers selling sub-standard helmets

The Centre has asked states to take strict action on manufacturers and retailers selling sub-standard helmets to ensure the safety of two-wheeler riders. "The Department of Consumer Affairs and the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) appeal to consumers across the country to use only BIS-certified helmets," an official statement said on Saturday. The department also called for strict enforcement against the manufacture or sale of helmets without BIS certification, it added. "With over 21 crore two-wheelers on Indian roads, rider safety is paramount," the department said, adding that wearing a helmet is mandatory under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. It pointed out that the sale of sub-standard helmets compromises safety. A Quality Control Order has been in force since 2021, mandating ISI-marked helmets certified under BIS standards for all two-wheeler riders. Suzuki Motorcycle India sales rise 14% to 113,000 units in April 2025

Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt Ltd on Thursday reported a 14 per cent growth in total sales at 1,12,948 units in April 2025, as compared to 99,377 units sold in the same month last year. Domestic sales were at 95,214 units in the month under review, up 8 per cent from 88,067 units sold in April 2024, Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt Ltd (SMIPL) said in a statement. Exports grew 57 per cent at 17,734 units in April 2025, as compared to 11,310 units in the same month last year, it added. During April this year, SMIPL said in a move to enhance customer accessibility, it started online bookings of its products via Flipkart across eight Indian states.

Ola Electric on Wednesday said it has forayed into the electric motorcycle segment with the launch of its Roadster X series. Built on the company's scalable motorcycle platform, the all-new Roadster X series comes with 2.5kWh, 3.5kWh and 4.5kWh variants priced at Rs 74,999, Rs 84,999 and Rs 94,999, respectively. Advik to acquire German braking system manufacturer Powersports MTG

Global automotive components maker Advik on Tuesday said it will acquire German mechanical and hydraulic braking system manufacturer Powersports MTG for an undisclosed sum. The acquisition will create additional expertise for Advik in premium motorcycle safety components, which will also drive technologies in the large segment of ICE (internal combustion engine) and electric-powered commuter motorcycles and scooters, it said. The buyout brings Advik into the list of advanced brake system suppliers, aligning with its growth trajectory, and would help the company establish its footprint in Europe, from where it can expand and service its customers at its doorstep, Advik said. Royal Enfield reports 25% rise in total sales at 79,466 units in Dec 2024

Mid-size motorcycle maker Royal Enfield on Thursday reported a 25 per cent rise in total sales at 79,466 units in December 2024, as compared to 63,387 units sold in the same month a year ago. Domestic sales were at 67,891 units, as against 57,291 units in December 2023, up 19 per cent, Royal Enfield said in a statement. Similarly, exports jumped 90 per cent at 11,575 units last month, as compared to 6,096 units in December 2023. "As we gear up for 2025, we are looking forward to sustaining our growth momentum and continue inspiring our riding community across the globe with 'Pure Motorcycling' initiatives across the board," Royal Enfield CEO, B Govindarajan said.

Honda Motors recalls CRF1100 Africa Twin units to fix throttle operation

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India on Thursday said it is recalling certain units of CRF1100 Africa Twin to rectify issues with throttle operation. The voluntary recall is aligned with the global market action, the two-wheeler maker said in a statement. The recall affects certain units of this adventure motorcycle manufactured between February 2022 and October 2022, it said. The company has identified a concern with the motorcycle's throttle operation, HMSI said. During acceleration, the wheelie control system may get activated unexpectedly which in some cases may lead to loss of balance, it stated. As a corrective measure, Honda will update the ECU software in the affected motorcycles with the correct programming, HMSI said. This will be done free of cost irrespective of the warranty status of the vehicle and shall be carried out at BigWing Topline dealerships across India, it added. US-based Zero Motorcycles sees tremendous growth opportunity in India where it has tied up with Hero MotoCorp for co-developing premium electric bikes, according to CEO Sam Paschel. The California-based firm, which specialises in electric motorcycles and powertrains, feels that it needs to have a product which could help it penetrate the price-sensitive market. "We see tremendous opportunities for us in those (APAC and India) markets. But I think you have to have a product that fits the use case and the price points of those markets," Zero Motorcycles CEO Sam Paschel told PTI here in an interaction. Festive season motorcycle sales fall short of expectations: Bajaj Auto

Motorcycle sales in the ongoing festive season so far are below expectations as demand is muted and the industry will be lucky if it sees 3-5 per cent growth compared to last year, Bajaj Auto Executive Director Rakesh Sharma said on Wednesday. While there are still about 15 more days to go for the festive sales this month, he said as a result of muted growth in motorcycles, the overall growth prospects of the two-wheeler industry could also be impacted for the full fiscal. "The responses in the motorcycle industry are a little bit muted in the sense that we thought that about 6 to 8 per cent growth will be there in the festive period, but it is not that much.
