Kalpataru Power Transmission bags new orders worth Rs 1,560 crore

Kalpataru Power Transmission Ltd on Thursday said that it has bagged new orders worth Rs 1,560 crore. "Kalpataru Power Transmission Limited (KPTL), a leading global EPC player in the power and infrastructure contracting sector, has secured new orders/notifications of award of Rs 1,560 crores," the company said in a statement. According to the statement, the orders include those from India, Africa, CIS and South America in the power transmission business. Besides, KPTL's international subsidiary has secured new power transmission projects in Europe. Manish Mohnot, MD and CEO, KPTL said: We are delighted with the new order wins, especially that all these orders are in our core power T&D business. These orders in the T&D business reaffirms our confidence in the strong growth of this business going forward. With reduced volatility and good visibility across all our businesses, we are confident to reach our targeted margin and build a strong order book.

Power consumption rises 1.3% to 34.23 bn units in 1st ten days of December

India's power consumption grew by 1.3 per cent in the first ten days of this month from December 1 to 10 to 34.23 billion units (BU) over the same period a year ago, according to power ministry data. In 2020, power consumption was 33.78 BU during December 1 to 10. In the entire month of December 2020, consumption was 105.62 BU, up from 101.08 BU in December 2019. Experts are of the view that power consumption as well as demand would grow at a steady pace in December with improvement in economic activities across the country. During the first 10 days of December this year, the peak power demand met or the highest supply in a day, touched 169.12 Gigawatt (GW) compared to 165.42 GW in the same period in 2020. The peak power demand met in December 2020 was 182.78 GW up from 170.49 GW in December 2019. In November this year, the power consumption grew by 2.6 per cent to 99.37 BU. Last year in November, power consumption stood at 96.88 BU and in the same month in 2019, it was at 93.94 ..

India to supply 20% more power Bangladesh as countries renew contract

India will supply 20 per cent more power to Bangladesh as the two countries renewed the contract for another five years, officials said on Sunday. Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) will supply 192 mw power to Bangladesh, an increase from the earlier 160 mw it supplied, as per the renewed agreement. India and Bangladesh inked an agreement on January 11, 2010 for power trading at a mutually agreed price. The agreement had expired on March 16, 2021, officials said. TSECL MD MS Kele and NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Ltd CEO Praveen Saxena represented India and signed the renewal agreement in Dhaka on December 2. Bangladesh was represented by its Power Secretary and Director of Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB). The new agreement came into effect from March 17, 2021 and would be in force till March 16, 2026, officials said. The modified terms and conditions of the agreement were finalised after four meetings between the stakeholders, they said.
