Chris Brown arrested in Paris on rape complaint
Rapper-singer Chris Brown has been taken into custody here after a woman filed a complaint alleging rape. The 29-year-old singer and two of his associates, including a bodyguard, have been held by police following an investigation into an alleged rape at Le Mandarin Oriental hotel, where he's been staying for Paris Fashion Week. A 24-year-old woman claimed he sexually assaulted her in his hotel room between January 15 and 16 this year. She said they met at Le Crystal club, near Les Champs-Elysees, and followed him back to the hotel. According to French publication Closer, the woman in her testimony claimed that Brown raped her. After that, his bodyguard and a friend of his also sexually assaulted her. This is not the singer's first tryst with the law. In 2009, Brown had received five years probation and a community service order for assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Rihanna, in his car in 2009.
Court orders FIR against Gujarat CM, Alpesh Thakor for attacks on migrants from Bihar
A court here on Tuesday directed police to lodge a case against Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and Congress MLA Alpesh Thakor while hearing a petition, which accused them of inciting attacks against migrants from Bihar. Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate (West), Muzaffarpur, Saba Alam passed the order on the petition of Tamanna Hashmi, a social activist. The court ordered that the FIR be lodged at Kanti police station in the district under IPC sections 153, 295 and 504 which relate to provocation with an intent to cause riot and insult with an intent to provoke breach of peace. Incidents of violence against migrants were reported from Gujarat last year after a man from Bihar was accused of allegedly raping and murdering a girl. It was alleged that many of the attackers belonged to an organization headed by Thakor, which the Congress MLA has denied the same.

Shah returning to Delhi, unlikely to attend Jhargram rally
BJP president Amit Shah is returning to New Delhi on Tuesday evening due to his ill health and is unlikely to attend his scheduled rally at Jhargram in West Bengal, party leaders said. "Amit Shah is very ill. He has high fever, but still attended today's rally here. He was discharged few days ago from the hospital after suffering from swine flu," Bharatiya Janata Party state president Dilip Ghosh said. Shah will return to New Delhi on Tuesday as his doctors have advised him against attending any other rally due to his ill health, Ghosh said. "If he is fine tomorrow, then he will attend the scheduled rally at Jhargram tomorrow." Earlier in the day, Shah kick-started the BJP's campaign in West Bengal with a rally in Malda, saying all Bengali refugees would be granted citizenship with the passage of the citizenship bill. Ghosh added that the BJP chief had asked them to ensure that the other scheduled rallies take place on time.

Andhra Pradesh cabinet decides to give quota for Kapus community, EBCs
Andhra Pradesh cabinet has decided to cater 5 per cent reservation each for Kapu community and the economically backward classes (EBCs) among the forward castes.The cabinet approved the decision of doubling the welfare pensions given under the NTR Bharosa Scheme. Pensions of Rs 1000 and Rs 1500 are doubled to Rs 2000 and Rs 3000 respectively. It is believed that 54.61 lakh pensioners will be benefited with this decision.The Cabinet cleared a proposal to release one instalment of DA to the government employees as against two pending DAs, and to empower the RDOs to verify the issues related to the settlement of dotted lands. The government will discuss with employee unions for payment of dues in instalments.The cabinet decided to give exemption of life tax for autos and quarterly tax for tractors. Ex-serviceman beaten up by Congress workers in MP's Jabalpur
An ex-serviceman, working as a security guard at Municipal Corporation was beaten up, allegedly by the Congress workers in Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur.As per eyewitnesses, the attackers were supporters of Congress leader Priyawat Singh. The ex-serviceman identified as Harish Patel was admitted to a nearby hospital with the help of his co-workers at Municipal Corporation.Superintendent of Police (SP) Jabalpur, A Singh said: "An ex-serviceman was beaten up by six to seven people. A Mexican journalist was found murdered in the northern state of Baja California Sur, the governor said Monday, the first reporter killed this year in what has become one of the world's most dangerous countries for the press. Rafael Murua, a community radio station director who had received death threats for his work, went missing Sunday night, according to local media reports. Mexico registered a record 33,341 homicides in 2018, according to officials statistics released Monday, breaking the record set in 2017 in violence fuelled by a war on the country's powerful drug cartels.
