Vani Kapoor lies Tied-seventh in Hong Kong

Vani Kapoor fell three places to tied-seventh from tied-fourth in the USD 150,000 EFG Hong Kong Ladies Open on Saturday. Vani, who shot three-under 69 on the first, returned a card of even par 72 in the second to be three-under 141 for 36 holes. Vani was seven shots behind runaway leader, 17-year-old Chinese star Du Mohan (67-67), at the at Hong Kong Golf Club. Du, member of China Asian Games bronze medal winning team in 2018, leads the field by five shots, as her teammate, Zhang Wei Wei (68-71) and Korean Seo Ji Hyun (69-70) are tied second. Behind Vani, the next best Indian is Amandeep Drall, who added 73 to her first round 75 to be four-over 148 and tied T-53. Other Indians were way behind as Ridhima Dilawari (75-75) was T-73, Neha Tripathi (82-74) was T99, Smriti Mehra (79-80) was further down as were Ayesha Kapur (82-82), Ananya Datar (86-79), Suchitra Ramesh (84-81) and Komal Chaudhary (82-97).

Molineux doing 'right things' to get Ashes opportunity

Australia spinner Sophie Molineux, who underwent right shoulder surgery in March, said that she is doing the 'right things' to get selected for the Women's Ashes series which is scheduled to be played in July."It's going really well, (the time has) gone pretty quick. Indian Super League franchise FC Goa Saturday announced that Brandon Fernandes has signed a three-year extension with the club. The deal will keep Fernandes in Goa until the end of the 2021/22 season, a media release said. Fernandes was selected by FC Goa in the 2017 ISL draft. In his first season as a Gaur, the forward-cum-winger accounted for 2 goals and 4 assists over 17 games in all competitions as the club reached the semis in both the Indian Super League and the Super Cup. Brandon had his best season in 2018/19 when he featured in 22 games for FC Goa. His 6 goals and 6 assists across all competitions helped the Gaurs reach the final of the Indian Super League before lifting the Super Cup in April with Brandon scoring the eventual winner in the final. Lahiri misses cut at Byron Nelson, Kang shoots 10-under 61 to lead

Anirban Lahiri's putting woes continued as he shot four-over 75 and was three-over 145 after two rounds, missing the cut at the AT&T Byron Nelson golf here. It was Indian's seventh missed cut in 15 starts this season and fifth in 11 starts in 2019. The performance leaves him standing around 164 in the FedExCup standings. Women's marathon world champion to run in Bengaluru World 10K on May 19

World champion and Asian Games marathon gold medallist Rose Cheliimo of Bahrain will be one of the title contenders in the TATA Consultancy Services World 10K race here on May 19. A total of 17 gold label athletes, nine men and eight women, will be seen at the starting line for the race.
