Airtel announces launch of 5G service in Jammu, Srinagar in a phased manner

Telecom operator Bharti Airtel on Wednesday announced the launch of its 5G services in Jammu and Srinagar. Airtel, in a statement, said that its '5G Plus' services will be available to customers in a phased manner as the company continues to construct its network and complete the roll out. Customers with 5G enabled devices will enjoy high speed Airtel '5G Plus' network at no extra cost until the roll out is more widespread, the company said. Adarsh Verma, Chief Operating Officer of Bharti Airtel - Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, said: "I am thrilled to announce the launch of Airtel 5G Plus in Jammu and Srinagar. Airtel customers can now experience ultrafast network and enjoy speeds upto 20-30 times faster than the current 4G speeds." 4 people killed, 6 injured in landslides in Jammu-Kashmir's Kishtwar

Four people, including a policeman, were killed and six injured after landslides struck near the under-construction Ratle power project in Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar district on Saturday, officials said. An operation to find and rescue survivors trapped under the debris has concluded, they said. Labourers were working on the construction of a link road near the Ratle power project site and a JCB machine was digging when a big boulder rolled down, trapping the workers, Kishtwar Deputy Commissioner (DC) Devansh Yadav told PTI. As an operation team comprising six people rushed to the spot to rescue those trapped under the debris, another landslide hit the area, burying more people, the officials said. Yadav said a rescue operation was launched immediately and six people, including an assistant sub-inspector of police, were pulled out from the debris and taken to the hospital. Tata Motors bags order for 200 e-buses; to be deployed in Jammu, Srinagar

Tata Motors on Tuesday said it has received an order for 200 electric buses which will be deployed in Jammu and Srinagar. The Mumbai-based auto major has won the tender of 200 electric buses floated by Jammu Smart City Ltd, it said in a statement. The automaker will supply 150 units of 9-metre and 50 units of 12-metre Starbus electric buses, it added. As part of the contract, Tata Motors will operate and maintain the buses for a period of 12 years. "Sustainable public transport is the need of the hour, and we are delighted that Tata Motors has got the opportunity to serve the commuters in Jammu & Kashmir," Tata Motors Smart City Mobility Solutions CEO and MD Asim Mukhopadhyay said. Since 2019, Tata Motors' 40 electric buses have been plying in Jammu and Kashmir along with a cumulative supply of 715 electric buses across multiple cities in India.

J-K Police conducts searches in 2 places in Srinagar in terror-related case

The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday carried out searches at two places in the city on Saturday in connection with terror cases. The raids were carried out ''to dismantle and disturb the nexus between terrorists and their associates'', a police official said. The SIU in its continuous investigation in different ULPA cases, after Pampore and Kulgam, conducted searches in the suspected houses at Sheeraz Colony Ganie Near Ration Ghat Soura and Shalbaf Mohalla New Colony Jinab Sahab Anchar Soura, the official said. The raids were conducted with the help of the administration and the police station concerned after getting proper search warrants from competent courts, he added. "'During the course of the raids by the SIU, various incriminating materials were recovered and are being investigated. "These raids will continue in the future also, for the logical conclusion of all UL(P) A cases,"' the official said.

Srinagar police raid residences of three lawyers in advocate murder case

Police carried out raids here on Wednesday at the residences of three lawyers, including former Kashmir High Court Bar Association president Mian Abdul Qayoom, as part of the probe into the killing of an advocate. "Srinagar police conducting searches at residence of Adv Miyan Qayoom, Adv Manzoor Dar and Adv Muzzaffar Mohd in connection with further #investigation of #murder of Adv Babar Qadri, FIR No 62/2020 of PS Lal Bazar," Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Kashmir Zone, Vijay Kumar said in a tweet. A posse of policemen arrived at Qayoom's Barzulla residence early in the morning to carry out the searches. Qayoom is the father-in-law of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court judge Justice Javed Iqbal Wani. Advocate Babar Qadri was shot dead by terrorists inside his residence in the city's Hawal area in September 2020. Qadri, who was a vocal critic of the bar association leadership, particularly of Qayoom, had claimed threat to his life three days before he was shot .

Civilians injured as terrorists hurl low-intensity grenades in Srinagar

Several civilians were injured in a grenade blast by terrorists in Srinagar on Sunday.According to Srinagar Police, the incident occurred at Nishat area where terrorists hurled grenade causing a low-intensity blast. A constable and a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant were injured in an encounter in Nowhatta area of Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday on the eve of the Independence Day, police said.
