IndoSpace looking to invest Rs 4,500 cr logistics and warehouse parks in TN

Logistics parks operator IndoSpace on Tuesday said it is looking to bolster its presence in the manufacturing sector with an increased investment plan of up to Rs 4,500 crore in new logistics and warehouse parks in Tamil Nadu. A leading developer of Grade A industrial and logistics real estate, IndoSpace had last year signed an initial pact with the Tamil Nadu government for investing Rs 2,000 crore in the state's logistics industry. Centre to fund 65% of Chennai metro Phase-2 project: FM Nirmala Sitharaman

The central government will finance 65 per cent of the estimated cost of Chennai Metro Phase-2 project, which will add up to over Rs 41,000 crore, the finance ministry said on Saturday. The Union Cabinet on Thursday approved a proposal to construct three corridors under the Chennai Metro Rail project phase-2 involving a total estimated cost of Rs 63,246 crore. The Centre's share adds up to over Rs 41,000 crore. In a statement, the finance ministry said the central government will finance almost 65 per cent of the estimated cost of Chennai Metro Phase 2. This will include the entire required loan of Rs 33,593 crore, besides the equity and subordinate debt of Rs 7,425 crore. The balance 35 per cent of the estimated cost will be financed by the state government. "The loans taken from multilateral and bilateral development agencies will be treated as the loans to the central government and will be provided directly to Chennai Metro Rail Ltd (CMRL) from the Central Government's budget

Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi on Saturday approved Chief Minister M K Stalin's recommendations on a cabinet reshuffle that included the elevation of his son Udhayanidhi as deputy CM and saw the return of V Senthil Balaji to the council of ministers, two days after the Supreme Court granted him bail in a money laundering case. The Tamil Nadu government on Friday said it has signed an MoU with US-headquartered Rapid Global Business Solutions, Inc, a supplier of business solutions across various industries, and the firm would set up a new unit in the state by investing Rs 100 crore. The Tamil Nadu government-backed StartupTN has secured funding of Rs 80 crore and has formed partnerships with over 200 venture capital firms, a top official said on Friday. SIT to probe abuse of school girls in fake NCC camp: Tamil Nadu govt

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin has ordered constituting a Special Investigation Team to probe the incidents relating to the alleged sexual abuse of minor girls at a fake NCC camp in Krishnagiri district recently, the state government said on Wednesday. Senior IPS officer K Bhavaneeswari will lead the Special Investigation Team (SIT), which has been tasked by the CM to expedite the probe into the matter within 15 days and file charge-sheet within 60 days. According to an official release here, Stalin also directed setting up of a Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) to recommend ways to prevent recurrence of such incidents. The MDT will be led by Social Welfare Department Secretary Jayashree Muralidharan and will have, among others, representatives from the police and the school education departments. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin on Thursday announced launching pharmacy outlets 'Mudalvar Marunthagam,' (Chief Minister's Pharmacy) soon to ensure the availability of generic and other medicines at low cost to the people. In his Independence Day address, Stalin said over 75,000 openings in the government sector will be filled by January 2026. The Chief Minister's pharmacy scheme will be launched next year, on the day of Pongal, the harvest festival, (January 14, 2025) and as many as 1,000 pharmacy outlets will be opened in the first phase. TN govt approves Rs 44,125 cr worth projects, expected to generate 24K jobs

The Tamil Nadu Cabinet on Tuesday gave its approval for 15 investment proposals of a total value of Rs 44,125 crore that are expected to generate over 24,700 jobs in the state. The 16th cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister M K Stalin at the secretariat here also granted its nod to three renewable energy policies as part of a goal to achieve 20,000 MW power generation by 2030, according to Finance Minister Thangam Thennarasu here.
