Telangana's total exports in the Information Technology sector reached Rs 2,68,233 crore during the last financial year, reflecting an 11.2 per cent increase from the previous year. Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Wednesday said a 'fourth city', after Hyderabad, Secunderabad and Cyberabad here, would come up at Mucharla on the city outskirts with an AI and health tourism hub, sports, and others being developed there on a grand scale. Speaking in the Legislative Assembly during a debate on the Appropriation Bill, 2024, he said the 'fourth city' would be the 'future city'. "After Hyderabad, Secunderabad city, Cyberabad city, we are going to establish a 'fourth city' at Mucharla," he said. While Hyderabad and Secunderabad are known as twin cities, the IT hub at Gachibowli in the Telangana capital is known as Cyberabad. Telangana government is all set to launch a farm loan waiver programme, part of its poll promise benefitting 70 lakh farmers, on Thursday, official sources said. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy had earlier announced that the government would implement the loan waiver up to Rs 2 lakh by August 15. The loan waiver funds up to Rs one lakh will be deposited in the farmers' accounts at 4 pm on Thursday. The chief minister said Rs 7,000 crore in total would be credited to the accounts of farmers whose loans of up to Rs one lakh are being waived. Crop loans of up to Rs 1.5 lakh would be waived by the end of July, and the loan waiver process would be completed in August when loans of up to Rs two lakh are dispensed with. Reddy also suggested organising a gathering of farm loan waiver scheme beneficiaries at "Rythu Vedikas" and Ministers, MLAs and other public representatives of the respective districts should also attend and share the joy with the farmers. Vibhor Steel Tubes Ltd (VSTL) on Wednesday said the company has doubled its special steel manufacturing capacity at its Telangana plant to 48,000 tonnes from 24,000 tonnes. It has inaugurated a new Galvanizing Iron (GI) manufacturing unit in the state to increase the production of crash barriers which are widely used on medians, shoulders, verges, and high embankments, the company said in a statement. "Besides strengthening the production and supply of crash barriers to our customers across the country, the new state-of-the-art facility will further reinforce our position as a leader in the steel tubes and pipes industry," Vibhor Kaushik, Managing Director, Vibhor Steel Tubes Ltd, said. Haryana-based VSTL operates two manufacturing units in Raigad, Maharashtra and Mahbubnagar in Telangana with a total capacity of 2,21,000 tonnes per annum. The company is in the process of setting up its third steel project in Odisha which will take its overall capacity to 3,41,000 tonnes.

After its defeat in the Legislative Assembly elections last year, the K Chandrasekhar Rao-led Bharat Rashtra Samithi is now faced with the defection of its MLAs and MLCs to the ruling Congress in Telangana. In a major setback to the opposition BRS in Telangana, six party MLCs joined the ruling Congress late on Thursday night in the presence of state Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. Bharat Rashtra Samithi continues to suffer from desertions, with several leaders, including six MLAs, leaving the party after its defeat in the Assembly polls last year. The six MLCs who switched over to the Congress are: Dande Vithal, Bhanu Prasad Rao, M S Prabhakar, Boggarapu Dayanand, Yegge Mallesham and Baswaraju Saraiah, Congress sources said.
