A minor fire broke out in a third-ac coach of Daulatpur-Sabarmati express train near Khatipura station in Rajasthan's Jaipur on Friday. All passengers are safe and the train left after a delay of one hour, said North Western Railway spokesperson Captain Shashi Kiran. The exact cause of the fire, which broke out near the toilet, was not immediately known, he said. The spokesperson said that a passenger immediately pulled the chain and the coach attendant with the help of other passengers controlled the fire. The coach was detached and the passengers were shifted to other coaches, he said. The incident occurred between Khatipura and Jagatpura railway stations. The matter is being investigated.

The Railway Ministry will operate 43 per cent more train trips this summer as compared to the last year to ensure that more passengers can travel to their desired destinations. To ensure the convenience of passengers and manage the anticipated surge in travel demand during summers, the Indian Railways is operating a record-breaking 9, 111 trips during the summer season, a press statement from the Railway Ministry said. This marks a substantial rise compared to the summer of 2023, where a total of 6,369 trips were offered. This translates to an increase of 2742 trips, demonstrating the Indian Railways' commitment to meeting passenger demands effectively, it added. According to the ministry, the additional trains have been meticulously planned to connect key destinations across the country, ensuring seamless travel on major railway routes. Out of these 9,111 train trips, the Western Railway will operate the highest number -- 1,878 -- followed by the North Western Railway with 1,623 .

Dense fog affected visibility in parts of north and northeast India on Thursday, heavily impacting road, rail and air traffic in the region with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting similar conditions for the next five days. According to officials, 18 Delhi-bound trains were delayed by up to six hours due to foggy weather. According to the national transporter, the RPF, which has the largest share of women personnel in its ranks among the central forces, runs Operation Matrishakti, which provides help to pregnant women in childbirth. Releasing the achievements of RPF and its various operations and campaigns during 2023, the railways said under operation "Rail Suraksha" to safeguard rail property, the force registered 6,312 cases of theft in which recovery of stolen railway property worth Rs 12.48 crore was made with the arrest of 12,099 offenders. A day after seven wagons of a goods train derailed between Kasara and TGR-3 station near Mumbai on the Central Railway network, the derailed wagons were removed from the accident site, officials said on Monday. Restoration work on the route was underway, Central Railway's chief public relations officer Dr Shivraj Manaspure said. The seven loaded wagons of the goods train derailed between Kasara, nearly 125 km from Mumbai, and TGR-3 station at around 6.30 pm on Sunday, leaving mail express traffic on the Kasara-Igatpuri section on the Down line and middle line affected. "All the derailed wagons have been removed from the accident spot. The movement of remaining wagons back to Kasara yard is going on," Manaspure said. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Bangladesh counterpart Sheikh Hasina will jointly inaugurate a key cross-border railway project on Wednesday, officials said. The prime ministers of the two neighbouring countries will launch the Agartala-Akhaura Cross Border Rail Link Project at 11 am in a virtual ceremony, they said. The 15-km rail link (5 km in India and 10 km in Bangladesh) will boost cross-border trade and significantly reduce the travel time between Agartala and Kolkata via Dhaka, the officials said. The trial run of the project was successfully completed on Monday, after a locomotive engine attached with four wagons entered Tripura, stopping at Nischintapur, a newly built railway station here. As many as 2,525 suburban services will remain cancelled till November 6 due to a block undertaken for works that began on October 7 in connection with the construction of 6th line between Khar and Goregaon stations, Western Railway said on Monday. At least 230 to 316 Up (towards Churchgate) and Down (towards Virar/Dahanu) suburban trains will remain cancelled everyday, while 93 locals will be cancelled on November 4 and 110 on November 5, a WR release said. Due to non-interlocking work in connection with construction of 6th line between Khar and Goregaon stations, these 2,525 suburban services will remain cancelled, the release said.
