Seven Taliban militants were killed in multiple operations launched by Afghan and coalition forces in three southern provinces of the country.According to the Khamma Press News, in the past few days, the security forces in Afghanistan have been targeting Taliban hideouts in Shah Joy district of Zabul, Uruzgan province and Nahr-e Saraj and Garm Ser districts of Helmand through ground operations and airstrikes.Along with militants, the Afghan Special Operation Forces and Coalition forces were also successful in destroying weapon cache.However, the Taliban is yet to comment on the report.On December 29, 15 Taliban fighters were killed during an operation by Afghan forces in Zarkoh district.

An assistant commandant of the Border Security Force (BSF) was killed in sniper firing by Pakistan Rangers along the International Border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua district Monday morning, officials said. Pakistan troops also violated the ceasefire and resorted to firing and shelling along the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district, prompting the Indian Army to retaliate strongly. The BSF troops were carrying out border domination along the IB, when snipers of Pakistan Rangers opened fire on them at around 1050 hours in Hiranagar-Samba sector of Kathua district, a senior BSF officer told PTI. A Border Security Force (BSF) officer on Tuesday was killed in a sniper attack from across the border in Samba sector of Jammu and Kashmir.The officer, identified as Assistant Commandant Vinay Prasad, was evacuated to MH Satwari in Jammu where he succumbed to his injuries, according to a release issued by the BSF.The incident took place at around 10:50 am when the BSF troops in Samba sector were carrying out border domination and were suddenly fired upon by Pakistani snipers, resulting in grievous injuries to Prasad.The BSF has offered condolences to the family of the deceased.

India is setting up a cyber agency under the Integrated Defence Staff (IDS) to deal with potent threats in the cyber space, Lt Gen M M Naravane, GOC-in-C, Eastern Command, said Tuesday. He said that the Armed Forces were alive to cyber threats which necessitated a cyber agency that will be set up by pooling talent from all three services - Army, Air Force and Navy. "It will be an inter-services agency, not purely Army, functioning under the IDS and they will be looking after all the threats in the cyber domain," Naravane told newspersons during Army Day celebrations at Fort William, the Army's Eastern Command headquarter here. The IDS is responsible for fostering coordination and enabling prioritisation across the different branches of the Indian Armed Forces. A Border Security Force (BSF) personnel was injured Tuesday when Pakistan troops fired and shelled along the International Border(IB) and the LoC in Kathua and Rajouri districts of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said. Pakistan Rangers fired along the IB in Hiranagar sector of Kathua district Tuesday, a senior BSFofficer told PTI.
