Yamaha expects 25% export growth this yr, plans Chennai unit as global hub

Japanese two-wheeler major Yamaha expects exports from India to grow 25 per cent this year and is making its Chennai factory the export hub for global market, especially to advanced countries, according to a top company official. The company, which exports to around 55 countries from India, will be exploring more international markets in a bid to increase exports from India, Yamaha Motor Co Ltd Senior Executive Officer and Yamaha Motor India Group Chairman, Itaru Otani told PTI. "We are trying to achieve a big growth, like by 25 per cent this year on exports," he said when asked how the company is looking at its exports from India this year. India Yamaha Motor Pvt Ltd had posted a 33.4 per cent growth in exports at 2,95,728 units in 2024-25 as compared to 2,21,736 units in 2023-24. Sharing the company's export strategy, Otani said,"The Chennai factory of Yamaha will be the export hub for the global markets, especially to advanced countries like the US, Europe, and then Japan." River Mobility plans to scale up ops; aims to open 100 stores by March

Bengaluru-headquartered electric vehicle startup River Mobility Pvt Ltd backed by marquee investors Yamaha Motor Corp, Mitsui & Company Ltd, aims to open 100 showrooms by March 2026, a top official said. The company under its expansion drive inaugurated its first store in Chennai and plans to open 15 more stores by November and 50 stores by March 2025 Chief Executive Officer, Co-Founder Aravind Mani said here. "We are very excited about the Chennai store. We have a lot of people from Tamil Nadu working in our facility (located outside Bengaluru). Chennai is a big EV market. The first store in Chennai is also the company owned operated store." Mani told PTI. India Yamaha Motor recalls 300,000 scooters to rectify brake parts

India Yamaha Motor is recalling around 3 lakh units of its 125 cc scooter models Ray ZR 125 Fi Hybrid and Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid to rectify faulty brake parts. The Japanese two-wheeler maker said it is recalling scooter units manufactured between January 1, 2022, to January 4, 2024, with immediate effect. Staying committed to the highest quality and safety standards of products, India Yamaha Motor (IYM) has announced a voluntary recall of around 3,00,000 units of 125 cc scooters, the company said in a statement. The recall is aimed at resolving an issue with the brake lever function in select units of the Ray ZR 125 Fi Hybrid and Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid scooter models (January 2022 onward models), it added. The replacement part is being provided to the concerned customer free of charge, IYM said in the statement.
