Jagan Prasad Garg was Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Agra, passed away today. Jagan Prasad won Assembly elections five times. He died of heart attack.

Police seize Rs 1.90 crore cash in AP

Krishna (Andhra Pradesh), Apr 10 (ANI): Police recovered Rs 1.90 crore in cash from a vehicle during checking in Gannavaram area of Andhra Pradesh. The driver of the vehicle has been detained. Police personnel and flying squads are conducting search operations across India ahead of LS polls.

Delhi court sends Yasin Malik to NIA remand till April 22

New Delhi, Apr 10 (ANI): Kashmiri separatist leader Yasin Malik was taken to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) headquarters in Delhi today. Malik was taken to the NIA after a Delhi court sent the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief on NIA remand till April 22. He was arrested in connection with 2017 terror financing and terror conspiracy case. Malik was brought to the national capital on Tuesday from Jammu jail after the NIA secured a production warrant against him in connection with a terror and separatism funding case in Jammu and Kashmir.

Journalist imprisoned under NSA in Imphal, released from jail

Imphal (Manipur), Apr 10 (ANI): Manipur based journalist Kishorechandra Wangkhem has been released from jail today. He was imprisoned under the National Security Act (NSA) in November 2018 for allegedly criticising the state government in a social media post. He was warmly accorded by his wife, Ranjeeta, his counsel, several Human Right Activists and representatives of students' organizations were also present. After his release, Wangkhem said, "Quite happy and content with judgment of the High Court of Manipur especially because it has upheld the right of freedom of expression of speech and that is what we have been looking for. From the beginning we have kept the faith in the court that they will definitely do something, do justice for me. I am not the first one to be jailed for criticizing the government, so let this case be an example for those whose voice are being suppressed so that they can speak up. We are living in a democratic country and we have the right to say what we want

Rafale deal: BJP slams Rahul Gandhi for attributing his comment to SC

New Delhi, Apr 10 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) slammed Congress president Rahul Gandhi for attributing his comment on Supreme Court regarding Rafale deal case. Union Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said, "We all know Congress president probably doesn't even read even half a paragraph, but here, by saying that the court has accepted and by also saying that the court has said 'Chowkidar chor hai,' these verge on contempt of court. She added, "The president of a party that has been in power for so many years has completely shown its frustration by attributing words which have not been uttered by the honourable court." Meanwhile, while addressing a public rally in Bihar's Katihar, Rahul Gandhi reiterated, "Today Supreme court took a historic decision. Supreme Court said, 'Hindustan ka chowkidar chor hai'."

109-year-old man spreading awareness among villagers in Gaya to cast vote

Gaya (Bihar), Apr 10 (ANI): 109 years old Hemraj Paswan, from Itma Village in Gaya has been casting his vote since 1956. He never missed any election and makes sure he casts his vote. Younger generation of the village gets inspiration from him. Hemraj spread awareness to villagers to cast vote and tell the importance of casting vote. While talking to ANI, Hemraj told that, "casting vote is crucial. I am casting vote since 65 years". He further added that everyone should participate in voting and elect the best candidate who can work for the development of poor people. Hemraj's son Tuntun Paswan said, "My father has been casting vote since 1952, he told us the difference of voting system of today's and of past generation."

Dantewada Naxal attack: Mortal remains of BJP MLA brought to his residence

Dantewada (Chhattisgarh), Apr 10 (ANI): Mortal remains of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Bheema Mandavi who lost his life in Naxal attack yesterday, were brought to his residence in Gadapal, Chhattisgarh. Four security personnel were also killed in the attack. Former Chhattisgarh chief minister Raman Singh was present to pay his last respects.

Alpesh Thakor's close aide Dhavalsinh Zala hints at his exit from Congress

Ahmedabad (Gujarat), Apr 10 (ANI): After the Thakor Sena Party gave ultimatum of 24 hours to Alpesh Thakor to leave the Congress party, Dhavalsinh Zala, a Congress leader and close aide of Alpesh, said that a final decision will be taken once Alpesh returns to Gujarat. Zala is also rumored to be leaving the Congress along with Alpesh. The Thakor Sena Party held a core committee meeting after which it warned Alpesh to quit the Congress within 24 hours, saying that Alpesh is not getting his due place in the Congress.

LS polls: Gurjar leader Kirori Singh Bainsla joins BJP

New Delhi, Apr 10 (ANI): Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, Gurjar leader Kirori Singh Bainsla joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today in the national capital. SC dismisses govt's preliminary objections in Rafale deal case, informs Arun Shourie

New Delhi, Apr 10 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Wednesday dismissed the Center's preliminary objections claiming 'privilege' over three Rafale documents cited in petition seeking review of the December 14 verdict on the fighter jet deal. Earlier, Arun Shourie filed the plea to review Rafale deal verdict. While addressing media after the Rafale deal verdict, petitioner Arun Shourie said, "The three judges have given unanimous judgment in which they've rejected the government's argument that firstly these documents cannot be considered because as the Attorney General said that they are stolen documents. This was on the face of it because if somebody is going to do something wrong, he is not going to take out full page advertisements in newspapers. So, that document has to be excavated. Rafale case: RS Prasad slams Rahul Gandhi for 'motivated campaign' after SC allows leaked docs in review petition

Patna (Bihar), Apr 10 (ANI): After the Supreme Court dismissed Centre's preliminary objection in the Rafale case and allowed the leaked documents to be a part of the review petition, Union Minister of Law and Justice Ravi Shankar Prasad said that a "wrong" perception was being created that the SC order was a setback to the central government, and that the motivated campaign led by Congress president Rahul Gandhi will be repelled by the people of India.
