AFSPA should be left to judgment of security agencies: Jitendra Singh on Congress' manifesto

Kathua (Jammu and Kashmir), Apr 02 (ANI): Minister of State (MoS) for Prime Minister's Office Jitendra Singh on Tuesday reacted on Congress party for their promise to amend Armed Forces Special Powers (AFSPA) Act in their manifesto. He said, "Decisions of this nature should be left to the wisdom and judgment of the security agencies. Any political functionary however it may be placed doesn't enjoy the right to be judgmental about these laws." Congress party on Tuesday, promised to amend AFSPA Act that grants special powers to the Indian armed forces in 'insurgency -hit areas', if they came to power.

Chennai (Tamil Nadu), Apr 02 (ANI): While speaking to ANI on a book on Rafale deal, Editor of Bharathi Publications (Chennai) PK Rajan said, "Book is based on information available in the public domain. We have published many books on elections. Don't know why suddenly it has become objectionable to the Election Commission of India (ECI) and government? We can't even sell the book at our bookshop." EC stalled launch of book which was to be launched in Chennai today citing the reason of Moral Code of Conduct.

Heavy alcohol use may slow brain growth

New Delhi, Apr 02 (ANI): A new study has revealed that heavy use of alcohol among adolescents and young adults can actually slow the rate of growth in developing brains. The research, carried out in nonhuman primates, has been published in the journal eNeuro. The study shows that heavy alcohol use reduced the rate of brain growth by 0.25 millilitres per year for every gram of alcohol consumed per kilogram of body weight. In human terms, it is equivalent to four beers per day. The research involved rhesus macaque monkeys at the Oregon National Primate Research Center. Researchers measured brain growth through magnetic resonance imaging of 71 rhesus macaques that voluntarily consumed ethanol or beverage alcohol. Scientists precisely measured intake, diet, daily schedules, and health care, thus ruling out other factors that tend to confound results in observational studies involving people. Mumbai foot-over bridge collapse: Accused BMC engineer sent to police custody till April 5

Mumbai, Apr 02 (ANI): Assistant Engineer with Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) SF Kakulte, accused in Mumbai foot over bridge collapse at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), has been sent to police custody till April 5 by the Magistrate Court today. He was taken into custody after interrogation by the Azad Maidan police. SF Kakulte was booked under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) section 304A (causing death by negligence). This tragedy took place on March 14. The bridge had collapsed near CSMT railway station and as many as six people had died and 31 others got injured in the incident.

Bus catches fire near ISBT Kashmere Gate
