Lucknow (UP), Jan 07 (ANI): Former IPS S R Darapuri and Sadaf Zafar released from Lucknow jail on January 07. They both were arrested during protest against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). "The fear of being jailed and beaten up has now gone away, thanks to Yogi Ji. I will continue to protest strongly till the time this inhuman law is not withdrawn," said Congress leader Sadaf Zafar.

Kullu (HP)/ Chamoli (Uttarakhand), Jan 07 (ANI): Uttarakhand's Chamoli is covered in thick blanket of snow following fresh snow spell. Himachal Pradesh's Kullu also received heavy snowfall. Total myth that administration don't talk to students: JNU Registrar

New Delhi, Jan 07 (ANI): While speaking to ANI, Registrar of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Pramod Kumar said, "We are trying to make the students understand so that the registration process can be restarted. New Delhi, Jan 07 (ANI): Delhi Police Crime Branch team arrived at Jawaharlal Nehru University to investigate violence that took place on January 05. Violence had broken out in the campus in which more than 30 people were injured. JNUSU President Aishe Ghosh was also attacked in the violence. JNU students are demanding the immediate removal of Vice Chancellor.

Hindu Raksha Dal leader Pinki Choudhary takes responsibility for JNU violence

Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh), Jan 07 (ANI): Hindu Raksha Dal leader Pinki Choudhary took responsibility for the brutal assault on teachers and students of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) inside the campus on January 05."JNU is a hotbed of anti-national activities, we can't tolerate this. We take full responsibility of the attack in JNU and would like to say that they were our workers," said Pinki Choudhary. Government's official sources said that the claims made by Hindu Raksha Dal leader Pinky Chaudhary are being investigated. Delhi Police has taken cognizance. To identity masked men in JNU, police is taking help of video footage as well as face recognition systems.

Cold waves, fog grip Delhi once again

New Delhi, Jan 07 (ANI): Temperature has dipped down in Delhi after parts of North India received heavy snowfall on Jan 07. Delhi is reeling under cold waves. A thick layer of fog has also covered the national capital. Pollution level has also increased in the city. A local said, "Due to snowfall in hilly regions such as Shimla, temperature is dipped down from January 06. It was light drizzle yesterday as well." Other one said, "Pollution has increased in last 2-3 days. We thought in New Year, pollution will be reduced. Fog is also dense now."

Equity indices trade higher led by banking, finance stocks

New Delhi, Jan 07 (ANI): Equity benchmark indices rebounded during early hours on Tuesday in line with Asian markets with no new escalation in the Middle East. At 10:15 am, the BSE SandP Sensex gained by 467 points to 41,143 while the Nifty 50 edged higher by 131 points at 12,124. Ebb in global crude oil prices and rupee's rise against the US dollar also influenced the market mood. All sectoral indices were in the positive zone except for Nifty IT which slipped slightly by 0.11 per cent.

Leopard allegedly shot dead by villagers after it killed child in UP's Bijnor

Bijnor (Uttar Pradesh), Jan 07 (ANI): A leopard was allegedly shot dead by villagers after it killed a child. The incident happened in UP's Bijnor on Jan 06. District Magistrate of Bijnor, Ramakant Pandey said, "Leopard was frequently attacking humans and had turned into man eater. Its carcass has been sent for post mortem. 5-day winter carnival wraps up in HP's Manali

JNU violence: Mumbai Police relocate protestors from Gateway of India to Azad Maidan

Mumbai, Jan 07 (ANI): Demonstrators staged protest against JNU violence in Mumbai. DCP (Zone 1) of Mumbai, Sangramsingh Nishandar appealed the protestors at Gateway of India to relocate at Azad Maidan. But protestors did not listen to his appeal. Later, police evicted protesters at Gateway of India and relocated them to Azad Maidan. Speaking on it, DCP (Zone 1) of Mumbai Sangramsingh Nishandar said, "We asked them to maintain peace but when the protest led to blockage of roads and common Mumbaikers and tourists started facing problems due to them, we appealed them so many times to relocate. But they did not listen to us and that is why we re-located them."
