Cold waves, dense fog grip Delhi

New Delhi, Jan 03 (ANI): The cold waves continued to hit national capital. A layer of fog was observed in parts of Delhi. Locals flock to tea stalls to safeguard themselves from chilly waves. Temperature has dropped down in Delhi due to snowfall in parts of North India and minimum temperature recorded was 6 C, as per IMD. 19 trains are late due to low visibility in Northern Railways region on Jan 03.

CAA protests: UP Police releases video of Meerut violence showing protestors allegedly trying to burn cops

Meerut (Uttar Pradesh), Jan 03 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Police has released a video clip where few protestors were seen attempting to burn policemen and Rapid Action Force (RAF) officials during CAA protest in UP's Meerut. The incident happened on Dec 20. Protestors allegedly shut the shop when these policemen and RAF officials were inside it and tried to set it ablaze. Although, the senior police officials reached at the spot and they stopped the major mishappening. Two RAF officials were injured in the incident.

Night shelters fill up as cold waves intensify in Delhi

New Delhi, Jan 03 (ANI): The cold waves are reeling in the national capital. People took refuge in government-supported night shelters at Lodhi Road. These night shelters have become heaven for homeless people. They are provided with free blankets, pillows. Temperature has dropped down in Delhi due to snowfall in parts of North India. The minimum temperature recorded was 6 C.

Air Quality dips to 'very poor' amid dense fog in Delhi

New Delhi, Jan 03 (ANI): The national capital of India, Delhi woke up to smoggy morning on Jan 03. A layer of smog was observed at India Gate. According to Air Quality Index (AQI) data, major pollutants PM 2.5 was at 302 in 'very poor' category and PM 10 was at 283 in 'poor' category at Lodhi Road area.

79-year-old village woman wins local body election in TN's Madurai

Madurai (Tamil Nadu), Jan 03 (ANI): Age is just a number for 79-year-old, Veerammal Azhagappan, who has won the local body election of Arittapatti village in Melur Taluk of Madurai district in Tamil Nadu. In this election, seven candidates had competed against her and she won the election with a difference of 199 votes. After winning the election, Azhagappan said that the youth of the village have elected her irrespective of her age, and she will work for the people.
