Noida (Uttar Pradesh), Jul 18 (ANI): 2 Iraqi nationals alleged that some men, claiming to be cops, looted their US$30000. The incident took place outside Jaypee Hospital where victims' brother is admitted for liver transplant. Their translator, Abdul Waris informed, "Some men approached them, showed their cards and said they're cops. They accused these 2 of carrying cannabis and demanded to check their bag which had US$30000. They pushed these 2 and fled with the money. Police is checking the CCTV footage and has registered a case."
New Delhi, July 17 (ANI): After the verdict of International Court of Justice on Kulbhushan Jadhav, Ministry of External Affairs said they will continue to work vigorously for Jadhav's early release and return to India. Spokesperson of Ministry of External Affairs, Raveesh Kumar said, "We appreciate direction by International Court of Justice that Pakistan should review and reconsider conviction and sentence given to Jadhav by Pakistani military court." "We expect Pakistan to implement directive immediately. This judgment validates India's position on the case. We will continue to work vigorously for Jadhav's early release and return to India," he added.
Morigaon (Assam), Jul 17 (ANI): Even as nature is creating havoc in Assam as the state is reeling under floods, the officials of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) are leaving no stones unturned to mitigate the effects of the continuous rainfall. The NDRF teams deployed in Morigaon rescued locals who were stuck in floods in the district. Around 2500 people including children, senior citizens and pregnant women, have been rescued by the disaster relief agency in Morigaon, and were taken to a safe place, said Tej Bahadur Singh, Assistant Commandant, NDRF.
New Delhi, July 17 (ANI): To avoid man-made disaster, Central Government approved proposal for enactment of the Dam Safety Bill, said Information and Broadcasting Minister, Prakash Javadekar on Wednesday. While addressing a press conference in Delhi, Javadekar said, "Cabinet approves proposal for enactment of the Dam Safety Bill, 2019 under chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi." The Dam Safety Bill will provide the surveillance, inspection, operation, and maintenance of specified dams across the country. The Bill also provides for the institutional mechanism to ensure the safety of such dams.
Hyderabad, Jul 17 (ANI): Calling International Court of Justice's (ICJ) verdict in the Kulbhushan Jadhav case as 'full victory' for India, former attorney general of India Mukul Rohatgi said the jury at Hague comprised judges from different parts of the world, and even the judge from China has seen the charade of Pakistan which is not a civilised nation. Earlier, the world court directed Pakistan to review its death penalty given to Jadhav, and to give India the consular access to the jailed former Indian naval officer.
Pithoragarh (Uttarakhand), July 17 (ANI): Monsoon season has started and due to heavy rain, landslides in the mountain areas have made lives of local more difficult. The motorable roads are blocked with heavy rocks. The road from Madkot to Munsyari has been damaged due to the landslides. The landslides in NH 309(A) hampered the road connectivity to Goripur area of Munsyari in Pithoragarh district. Students from Bothi villages are crossing the landslide-affected roads with risks as the road. The landslide has also affected route to reach college in Uchhaiti.
New Delhi, July 17 (ANI): Cabinet approves Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (Amendment) Bill on Wednesday, informed Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar. The amendment places a greater emphasis on the need for time-bound disposal of cases at the application stage. The amendments set 330 days as the maximum time allowed for bankruptcy resolution, including for litigation and other judicial process.

Pune (Maharashtra), July 17 (ANI): A 3-year-old leopard was rescued from a well by forest officials in Maharashtra's Ambegaon district on Tuesday. The incident happened in Kadewadi village of Ambegaon in Pune. The Rescue Team reached the spot after they were informed by a rescue volunteer about the leopard being trapped in the well. The leopard was later shifted to Manikdoh Leopard Rescue Center for treatment.

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh), Jul 17 (ANI): Despite tall promises by government of various public welfare schemes reaching last mile, Madhya Pradesh's Sarotipura village, which is on the border of state capital Bhopal, has not ticked a single box on the list of basic facilities. The village, comprises of 500 people, has an electric pole but does not have power. There are also no health services, roads or even drinking water available in the village. There is a primary school in the village but without any proper facilities, and students have to struggle daily just to get education. Rama, one of the locals told ANI, "There is a electricity pole here but there is no light. Ministers come here only during elections. Even ambulance can't come here due to lack of road. We don't have clean drinking water. New Delhi, July 17 (ANI): Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said on Wednesday that the Indian and Chinese forces were observing full restraint at Doklam, where a standoff had taken place between the two sides in 2017, and noted that infrastructure was being ramped up along the border with China to ensure security. Responding to a concern raised by Congress member Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury in Lok Sabha about alleged intrusion by China at Demchok sector, Singh said that the government was fully aware of security requirements of the country. "Both the countries are following existing agreements so that peace and tranquillity are ensured on the border," he further added.
New Delhi, July 17 (ANI): Now onwards students aspiring to become doctor have to crack just one entrance examination, National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). While addressing a press conference in Delhi, Minister of Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar said, "There will be only NEET instead of different medical entrance exams from now." There are different entrance exams in different medical colleges of the country but now only one examination will be done, on the basis of which students will get admission. Hague (Netherlands), Jul 17 (ANI): Staff of Indian Embassy arrived at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in Hague ahead of the world court's verdict on Kulbhushan Jadhav, a former Indian naval officer who has been lodged in Pakistan jail since 2016 on charges of spying. India had gone to the world court in 2017 after a military court in Pakistan sentenced Jadhav to death. Pakistan has repeatedly denied India the consular access to Jadhav despite numerous requests.

Sonbhadra (UP), July 17 (ANI): At least nine people were killed over a land dispute in Sonbhadra's Ubha village in Uttar Pradesh. According to Director General of Police (DGP) Om Prakash Singh, Pradhan of Ubha village came at the field with heavy men force and started ploughing, when people stopped him he started firing in which 9 people got killed. Injured people have been shifted to the hospital for and are undergoing treatment. Police assured that the law and order situation is under control and police is investigating the matter.
The International Court of Justice (ICJ on Wednesday said the stay on executing an Indian man on death row in Pakistan must continue, TV reports said. Pakistan has said Kulbhushan Sudhir Jadhav, a former Indian navy officer, was arrested in its restive southwestern province of Balochistan in March 2016 on charges of espionage. Jadhav, 48, was then sentenced to death by a Pakistani military court in 2017, sparking outrage in India. India insists that Jadhav was not a spy and says he was kidnapped by Pakistan. New Delhi had asked the ICJ to order Islamabad to annul the sentence.
