New Delhi, July 05 (ANI): Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the budget for 2019-2020 in the national capital today. While addressing at the Lok Sabha, Nirmala Sitharaman said, "I propose to consider issuing Aadhaar Card for Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) with Indian passports after their arrival in India without waiting for the mandatory 180 days." "To give further impetus to India's growing influence and leadership in the international community, Government decided to open Indian embassies and high commissions in countries where India doesn't have a resident diplomatic mission as yet," she added. "To provide Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) seamless access to Indian equities, NRI portfolio investment route to be merged with foreign portfolio investment route," she further stated.

Piyush Goyal slams Congress for criticising budget, calls party 'sheikh chilli ki kahani'

New Delhi, Jul 05 (ANI): Railway Minister Piyush Goyal responded the remark by Congress on Union Budget 2019-20 where it was called a 'manifesto'. Goyal said, "Our track record is that we've performed on every single budget for last 5 yrs. Congress made promises that no one was willing to buy, because they were just "sheikh chilli ki kahani", dreams in the air that nobody trusted." He further added, "I think people's verdict is out. I can only say that Congress seems to be rudderless, leaderless and helpless."

Piyush Goyal applauds Union Budget, calls it 'budget for 130 crore Indians'

New Delhi, Jul 04 (ANI): Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal said that the Union Budget 2019-20 is a 'budget for all'. He said, "It has addressed issues which will make 'ease of living' for the poor, the middle class. It has ensured large scale infrastructure development which have made life and living easy for 130 crore Indians, rich or poor." He further added, "It has given a huge thrust to startup, job creation, Make in India. It has given pension to the traders, large part of the community that was left out of the social security network. It's very reform-oriented. So it's a budget for 130 crore Indians."

Shiv Sena Corporator assaults chicken traders over parking issue in Mahim

Mumbai, Jul 05 (ANI): Shiv Sena Corporator Milind Vaidya on Friday assaulted chicken traders in Mahim for parking chicken carriers' vehicles near railway station area in Machimar Colony. The incident was video recorded, and Vaidya could be heard telling the chicken traders about their repeated parking violations. The Shiv Sena Corporator is seen abusing and thrashing the chicken traders in the video.

Mahatma Gandhi's 150th birth anniversary to be celebrated till October 2020: CM Gehlot

New Delhi, July 05 (ANI): Programmes to celebrate 150th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi has been extended for one more year in Rajasthan. State Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has announced the same in the state level committee meeting organised in Jaipur. He said, "Now programmes will be organised till October 2020 to spread the philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi to every citizen." Chief Minister also underlined and emphasised that Gandhi's thoughts and creations are so vast that is not possible to spread them with one year programs. Budget 2019: Around 24 lakh houses delivered to beneficiaries under PMAY, informs FM Sitharaman

New Delhi, July 05 (ANI): Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the union budget for 2019-2020 in the national capital today. While addressing at the Lok Sabha, Nirmala Sitharaman said, "Under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) (Urban), over 81 lakh houses with investment of about Rs 4.83 lakh crore have been sanctioned of which construction has started of about 47 lakh houses. Over 26 lakh houses have been completed of which nearly 24 lakh houses have been delivered to beneficiaries."

Union Budget 2019: Have asked SEBI to consider raising current threshold of 25% to 35%, says Sitharaman

New Delhi, July 05 (ANI): Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the budget for 2019-2020 in the national capital today. While addressing at the Lok Sabha, Nirmala Sitharaman said, "To deepen corporate tri-party repo market in corporate debt securities, government will work with regulators Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) to enable stock exchanges to allow AA rated bonds as collaterals." "User friendliness of trading platforms for corporate bonds will be reviewed, including issues arising out of capping of International Securities Identification Number," she added. "It's right time to consider increasing minimum public shareholding in the listed companies, I have asked SEBI to consider raising the current threshold of 25% to 35%," she further stated.

Union Budget presented with 10-year vision in mind: Nirmala Sitharaman

New Delhi, Jul 05 (ANI): Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said the union budget was presented with a "10-year vision in mind", and was continuation of the interim budget presented in February by then acting Finance Minister Piyush Goyal. Sitharaman added that the budget's emphasis was on overall development of the economy, and to boost the living standards in both rural and urban centers. "The emphasis was very clearly on the overall development of economy. We looked at rural initiatives, all of which will give certain dynamic to the rural areas. Similarly, we looked at how urban living can be better," Sitharaman told reporters after presenting the budget in the Parliament.

Fire breaks out at DGHS office in Delhi's Karkardooma

New Delhi, July 05 (ANI): A fire broke out in a building housing the office of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) in East Delhi's Karkardooma area on Friday. 22 fire tenders were present to the spot. No injury has been reported so far. More than 60 fire personnel have been deployed in the fire fighting operation. The cause of the blaze is yet to be ascertained.

Govt adopted 'comprehensive approach' towards NBFCs: Nirmala Sitharaman

New Delhi, Jul 05 (ANI): Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman described the Non-Financial banking Companies (NBFCs) as a "critical component" of the banking system, and said the government has adopted a "comprehensive approach" towards the alternative lending sector. "Non Banking Financial Companies (NBFC) are a critical component of our banking system. The Government has adopted a comprehensive approach for NBFC financing," Sitharaman told reporters after presenting the Union Budget in the Parliament. NBFCs are reeling under massive credit crunch for the last year, and the community has asked the government to take suitable actions to ease up the liquidity flow. Reserve Bank of India had announced earlier this year a separate credit window for NBFCs to address the credit crunch.

Budget 2019: 100% FDI will be permitted for insurance intermediaries, says FM

New Delhi, July 05 (ANI): Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the budget for 2019-2020 in the national capital today. While addressing at the Lok Sabha, Nirmala Sitharaman said, "Government will invite suggestions for further opening up of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in aviation sector and media. Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics (AVGC) and insurance sectors will be in consultation with all stakeholders. 100% FDI will be permitted for insurance intermediaries." Building Akash Vijayvargiya batted for, demolished by IMC in MP's Indore

Indore (MP), July 05 (ANI): The Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) demolished the building over which BJP MLA Akash Vijayvargiya had thrashed a municipal corporation officer with a cricket bat on June 26 on Friday. Bhure Lal, owner of the building, had approached the Madhya Pradesh High Court against demolition but the court refused to stay the process. However, the court had asked IMC to arrange temporary shelter for Lal for three months within two days. Akash, son of BJP General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya and a first-time MLA, chased away an IMC officer, who was on an anti-encroachment drive, on June 26. A video of the dramatic incident showing the legislator beating up the officer with a cricket bat went viral across social media platforms, drawing criticism from the Opposition. Akash was arrested and later released from jail on bail and was garlanded by his supporters.
