Ahead of Budget presentation, Sitharaman meets President Kovind

New Delhi, July 05 (ANI): Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday called on President Ram Nath Kovind at the Rashtrapati Bhavan before presenting her first Union Budget. "As per tradition, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman called on President Ram Nath Kovind before presenting the Union Budget," he tweeted from his official handle. Sitharaman was joined by Minister of State for finance Anurag Thakur. Meanwhile, parents of Nirmala Sitharaman- Savitri and Narayanan Sitharaman also arrived at the Parliament, where she will present her maiden Budget at 11 am in Lok Sabha.

FM Nirmala Sitharaman arrives at Ministry of Finance

New Delhi, July 05 (ANI): Newly appointed Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman arrived at Ministry of Finance on Friday. She will present the Union Budget 2019 today at 11 am in Lok Sabha. It will also be the maiden budget for Sitharaman, who becomes the second woman finance minister after Indira Gandhi to do in the history of independent India. This will be the first budget of the second term of the Narendra Modi-led government.

Newly-inducted judges of NCLT take oath

New Delhi, Jul 05 (ANI): Newly-inducted judges of National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) took oath in New Delhi. They took oath in presence of NCLT President Justice Mahesh Mittal Kumar. NCLT was constituted by Central Government in 2016 under section 408 of the Companies Act. The Ministry of Corporate Affairs set 11 Benches in first phase.

MP: Woman gives birth to child on rickshaw due to non-availability of ambulance

Indore (MP), Jul 05 (ANI): A woman gave birth to a child on a rickshaw outside Kathi District Hospital in Madhya Pradesh's Indore due to non-availability of ambulance on time. Dr. Jay Prakash said, "Due to some misunderstanding we couldn't admit the woman, later entire medical staff helped her." He added, "Both mother and child are healthy now. The ambulance couldn't reach the woman on time as it had gone to Jabalpur with a serious patient."

Government school in Haryana makes Sit ups mandatory for students

Bhiwani (Haryana), Jul 05 (ANI): Government-run Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan School in Haryana's Bhiwani has decided to introduce sit-ups in its curriculum. The move has been made mandatory for students under State School Education Board Pilot Project. Rajeev Prasad, Education Board Secretary, said, "It is super brain yoga. It's scientifically proven that it increases brain efficiency. We're starting this from tomorrow."

Farmer commits suicide by consuming pesticide in Rajasthan's Sri Ganganagar

Sri Ganganagar (Rajasthan), Jul 05 (ANI): A farmer committed suicide by consuming pesticides in his farmland in Rajasthan's Sri Ganganagar. Brother of a farmer who allegedly committed suicide by consuming pesticides in Raghunathpura village in Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan said, "He used to receive frequent notice from Marudhara Gramin Bank branch in Vijaynagar. He was unable to repay loan and was very stressed about it." While speaking to ANI, Rameshwar Lal Saini, Assistant sub-inspector of police said, "Till now no information about bank loan has surfaced. I had also spoken to bank people they didn't say anything about the loan. Investigation is underway."

Exercise improves anxiety, mood in elderly cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy

New Delhi, Jul 05 (ANI): Recently, scientists have found that exercise not only improves anxiety and mood problems in younger cancer patients but also in older adult patients who are undergoing chemotherapy. The study was published in the 'Journal of American Geriatrics Society'. Cancer increases the chances of people experiencing anxiety and mood issues which can affect emotional and social well-being. In turn, this may lead people to discontinue cancer treatments which can mean shortening their survival. Older adults often experience anxiety and other mood disorders during their treatment for cancer, and treating those problems with medications can often cause potentially dangerous side effects. The researchers examined the Exercise for Cancer Patients (EXCAP) programme, a home-based, low to moderate intensity aerobic and resistance exercise programme. This Karnataka govt school sells jasmine to hire teachers

Mangaluru (Karnataka), July 04 (ANI): A government school in Karnataka's Mangaluru took a unique step to raise funds. This lower primary school is situated in Ojala village of Bantwal city. They grew jasmine to raise funds for guest teachers at the school as there are only two permanent teachers in the school. They started planting jasmine around 2013-2014 and sell them to get money to hire teachers. While speaking to ANI on the step, Headmistress of the school said, "We started planting jasmine in 2013. We sell them to raise funds for the two guest teachers at the school."
