Patna (Bihar), Jan 08 (ANI): Boycott of Bollywood actor Deepika Padukone's upcoming movie 'Chhapaak' outburst in country after the actor visited JNU where students and teachers protesting against JNU violence that happened on January 05. Speaking on it, BJP leader Sanjay Paswan said, "The one who will stand with 'tukde tukde gang' will be opposed. Public will be angry on him or her. That's why we all are abide by it. We got the information that somebody misguided her (Deepika Padukone) and took her to JNU. And if heroes and heroines are going there, we are also capable and we have more stock of heroes and heroines than they have. It is a matter of concern that some people are spreading violence in JNU. Definitely, I feel actors, actresses, authors and authoress or whoever's vision is not clear will be opposed"

Equities slump after Iran strike on US troops spooks Asian markets

New Delhi, Jan 08 (ANI): Equity indices extended losses on Wednesday afternoon after Iran fired missiles at US forces in Iraq overnight, pushing oil prices higher as investors feared a wider conflict in the Middle East. The attacks on Ain Al-Asad airbase and another at Erbil came hours after the funeral of top military commander Qassem Soleimani whose killing in a US drone strike led to sharp escalations in a developing conflict across the region. The BSE SandP Sensex was down by 221 points to 40,648 while the Nifty 50 edged lower by 78 points at 11,975. All sectoral indices at the National Stock Exchange were in the red. Nifty PSU bank dipped by 1.8 per cent, metal by 1.6 per cent, realty by 1.1 per cent and auto by 1 per cent. Meanwhile, Asian financial markets were roiled with stocks sliding as investors feared a wider conflict in the Middle East could push up oil prices and dent US corporate earnings due to rising energy costs.

Have approved Meerut Hangman's service for execution of Nirbhaya's convicts: UP Jail Minister

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), Jan 08 (ANI): Delhi court issued death warrants to all four convicts in 2012 Delhi gang rape case on January 07. Earlier, Meerut hangman Pawan Kumar had shown his interest and said that if jail administration will contact him, he is ready to hang the four convicts. Speaking on Pawan's appointment, Jail Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Jai Kumar Singh, "We welcome court's decision. Nirbhaya's family, including the whole country, was waiting for this decision because everyone was mourned by the kind of incident that took place. Tihar jail had written to avail the service of hangman from Meerut for the execution of Nirbhaya rape case convicts. We have approved permission for the same."

No injustice will be done: Maharashtra Minister on FIR against students protesting at Gateway of India

Bombs recovered from rail tracks in West Bengal

North 24 Parganas (West Bengal)/ South 24 Parganas (West Bengal) Jan 08 (ANI): Four crude bombs were recovered by police from railway tracks near Hridaypur railway station in North 24 Parganas. Meanwhile, 4 socket bombs were also recovered from tracks near Dakshin Barasat railway station in South 24 Parganas. Train services have been suspended due to bomb alert until the further notice. The suspected bombs have been disposed of by the local administration.

In Hyderabad, commuters faced difficulties as bus service were also affected. Protesters demand during 'bharat bandh' includes the Centre to drop the proposed labour reform. In Mumbai, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited employees protested against government decision of strategic disinvestment of Bharat Petroleum. Protesters raised anti-government slogans and criticised the Centre for its policies. They were holding placards, posters and banners against the government.

Equity indices trade lower on increasing US-Iran tensions

New Delhi, Jan 08 (ANI): Equity benchmark indices traded lower during early hours on Wednesday tracking losses in Asian peers as oil prices surged after Iran fired retaliatory attack at US forces based in Iraq. Besides, the GDP growth has been forecast to dip to an 11-year low of 5 per cent in the current financial year, mainly due to poor performance by the manufacturing and construction sectors. At 10:15 am, the BSE SandP Sensex dipped by 88 points to 40,781 while the Nifty 50 edged lower by 45 points at 12,008. All sectoral indices were in the red zone except for Nifty IT which gained slightly by 0.15 per cent. Nifty PSU bank lost by 1.34 per cent each, metal by 0.9 per cent and realty by 0.6 per cent.

2 dead after buses collided in Andhra Pradesh's Chittoor
