New Delhi, Aug 15 (ANI): While addressing the nation in the national capital on the auspicious occasion of India's 73rd Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "Today, when we are marking Independence Day, many of our citizens are suffering due to floods in various parts of the country. We stand in solidarity with those who are affected by the floods." This is PM Modi's sixth consecutive address to the nation in which he focused on several issues. He spoke for around 92 minutes during his speech.

Couple allegedly commits suicide by consuming poison in UP's Kanpur

Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh), Aug 15 (ANI): A couple allegedly committed suicide in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur on August 14. The couple committed suicide by consuming poison. The incident took place in Paras village of Kanpur Nagar. While speaking to ANI, Additional SP (Rural) of Kanpur Nagar Pradyumna Singh said, "A case was earlier registered by girl's family when they had eloped. Girl had given statement in favour of the man. Further action will be taken on basis of postmortem report."

Delhi govt to bear class 10th and 12th CBSE exams fee in govt schools: Manish Sisodia

New Delhi, Aug 15 (ANI): Delhi government has decided to bear entire fees of CBSE exams of Class 10th and 12th for all categories of students in government schools. The decision came after Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced the hiked examination fees. After attending the launch program of 'Constitution @70 campaign', Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia said, the students of government school are not able to pay the hiked fees of CBSE exam. Delhi government has decided to bear entire fees of CBSE exams for all categories of students of class 10th and 12th." After the announcement of hiked fee, On August 13 CBSE has decided to restore the practice of charging Rs 50 as exam fees of Rupees 50 from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes students in Delhi government schools.

Biometric data of over 1 million people exposed in major breach of banks, UK police

New Delhi, Aug 15 (ANI): In a major breach of biometric systems used by the UK Metropolitan Police, defence contractors, and banks, fingerprint and facial recognition information of more than 1 million people had been left exposed in a publicly accessible database.According to The Guardian, researchers found that the biometric data on Suprema's web-based Biostar 2 platform that controls access to secure facilities, was unprotected and mostly unencrypted. The database included 27.8 million records, totalling 23 gigabytes of data. A simple manipulation of the URL search criteria not only allowed access to the data but also permitted alterations. The vulnerability has been fixed, however, the scale of the breach was alarming as the service is in 1.5 million locations across the world

Pregnant transgender men face depression, lack of care: Study

New Delhi, Aug 15 (ANI): Pregnant transgender men are at higher risk for depression and face difficulty getting medical care due to a lack of knowledge among health care providers, suggests a study. The study published in the journal 'Maturitas' examined health care research on transgender men who become pregnant at or after age 35 to determine their medical and mental health needs. According to the U.S. Transgender Survey, nearly 40 per cent of its 28,000 respondents reported attempting suicide -- nearly nine times the national average. That risk can be increased in transgender men with the unwanted physical changes resulting from pregnancy, according to Brandt.

Prominent buildings including Rashtrapati Bhavan were illuminated in beautiful colours. Mesmerizing colours beamed on Assam High Court and State Museum buildings.
