China sending troops to Hong Kong border according to US intelligence, says President Trump

New Delhi, Aug 14 (ANI): Amid massive protests in Honk Kong, US President Trump took to twitter and said that "our Intelligence has informed us that the Chinese Government is moving troops to the Border with Hong Kong. Everyone should be calm and safe." Anti Government protests in Hong Kong have turned violent and five protestors were arrested for 'assaulting officers'. Flights have also been delayed and cancelled at the Hong Kong airport.

Bike-borne miscreants allegedly beat up retired IPS officer, his son in Patna

Patna (Bihar), Aug 14 (ANI): A retired IPS officer Ajay Verma and his son were allegedly beaten up by bike-borne miscreants in Patna on August 13. The incident happened following an altercation when one of the bikes hit the officer's car. The miscreants also vandalised his car. An FIR is registered and police is trying to identify the accused. While speaking to ANI on the incident, retired IPS officer Ajay Verma said that I got to know that how ordinary people treated on daily basis. He further said, "If police wants to catch the miscreant, they surely will."

Students make human chain to celebrate Independence Day, Raksha Bandhan

Surat (Gujarat), Aug 14 (ANI): At least 670 students of a school came forward to show their enthusiasm for Independence Day and Raksha Bandhan in a unique way in Gujarat's Surat. They made human chain by positioning themselves to form the Tricolour and 'rakhi'. India got Independence on August 15, 1947 and will celebrate 73rd Independence Day this year. The preparations for the celebrations are on full-swing in whole country. Raksha Bandhan is a Hindu festival and celebrates the relationship of brother-sister. 'Raksha Bandhan' is a Sanskrit word, which translates in English to "the bond of protection, obligation, or care".

Over 35 students fall sick after consuming mid-day meal in Rajasthan's Bhilwara

Bhilwara (Rajasthan), Aug 14 (ANI): More than 35 students got hospitalised after eating mid-day meal on August 13. The mishap took place in a government school of Bhilwara district in Rajasthan. According to SDO CL Sharma, students complained about stomach ache and headache, soon after students were admitted to nearby hospital. After first aid the health situation of the students are under control.

Free Balochistan Movement marks Independence Day of Balochistan in London

London (UK), Aug 14 (ANI): Free Balochistan Movement (FBM) organised a seminar here to mark the Independence Day of Baloch. It was attended by members of several Baloch and non-Baloch political parties including Baloch Republican Party (BRP), Balochistan National Movement (Zrombesh), Balochistan People Party, Nation without states, Arab Front for The liberation of ALhwaz, Campaigning against Criminalizing Communities and 15 April Movement for Liberation Al-Ahwaz. The guest speakers included Khan of Kalat Suleman Daud, Taher Karim, FBM vice-president Dr Shahzawar Karimzadi, Rahim Bandoi Baloch, Ismail Amiri, Mohammad AlHazbawi, Desmond Fernandes, Shabir Baloch, Tahir Karim and Graham Williamson. Free Balochistan Movement thanked all the participants and speakers for attending the historic event to show their support and solidarity with the people of Balochistan.

Security beefed up in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch ahead of Independence Day

Ladakh MP Jamyang Tsering inaugurates week-long film festival

Squishy Rubik's Cube can help monitor health conditions

New Delhi, Aug 14 (ANI): Researchers have designed a new type of Rubik's Cube that is not only extra fun to play with but could also help in storing and detecting information for monitoring health conditions. The squishy cube is built using self-healing coloured hydrogel blocks. Similar to the standard 3x3x3 Rubik's Cube, the squishy version can also be rotated, with the structure locking into place after 24 hours, an official release on The University of Texas at Austin notes. Researchers from the US and China who built the cube are exploring ways to encode information into the cube similar to QR codes that could help monitor patient's chemical changes in conditions such as diabetes. The squishy Rubik's Cube can form 43 quintillion configurations, enabling a vast amount of data storage.

Exam fee for SC/ST students restored to Rs 50 in Delhi: CBSE

New Delhi, Aug 14 (ANI): The Central Board for Secondary Education (CBSE) said that it has decided to restore the practice of charging exam fees of Rupees 50 from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes students Delhi government schools."We have issued a circular to the Delhi Government today that SC/ST students in Delhi will have to pay Rs 50 only for Class X and Class XII Board examinations," said Anurag Tripathi Secretary of CBSE Board. The CBSE had recently hiked the fee for all candidates for Class X and XII board examinations. The fees for SC and ST students in Delhi, who were paying only Rupees 50 while the Delhi government was giving the rest of the amount as a subsidy, was raised to Rupees 1,200.

Security tightened in Gujarat's Kutch after terror alert

Kutch (Gujarat), Aug 14 (ANI): After the Central Intelligence Bureau issued terror alert to Gujarat Police about potential terrorist intrusions on the Indo-Pak border, security was beefed up in the area with deployment of Marine and border police. "We have taken necessary measures to ensure no such intrusion can take place. We have deployed more teams of Marine and borders police on border areas, we are doing 24x7 vehicle checking in all these border areas," East Kutch Superintendent of Police (SP) Parikshita Rathod told ANI. "We have also alerted all the border residents and fishermen to inform us in case of any suspicious vehicle or boat or person seen by anyone," Rathod added.

Those who raised questions on 'intelligence failure' in Pulwama attack were termed traitors: Digvijaya Singh

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh), Aug 13 (ANI): Congress leader Digvijaya Singh on August 13 said whoever had raised questions on the 'intelligence failure' due to which Pulwama terror attack took place, was termed a "traitor". Singh added that this was despite Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik admitting to intelligence failure. "Jammu - Kashmir Governor himself had said that there was an intelligence failure (Pulwama attack), had it been any other country Home Minister would have been forced to resign, if not the PM. But here, whoever raised questions was declared a traitor," Singh told reporters in Bhopal.

88 NLFT militants surrender in presence of Tripura CM Biplab Deb

Agartala (Tripura), Aug 13 (ANI): In a major win for the authorities in Tripura, 88 militants of the National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) surrendered at an event in state capital Agartala where Chief Minister Biplab Deb was present. A huge cache of arms and ammunition was also surrendered to the authorities. The militant organisation had signed a Memorandum of Settlement with Tripura government and Union Home Ministry on August 10. "I have welcomed 88 militants of NLFT who have decided to join the mainstream. This will give boost to the progress of Tripura," Deb told reporters.

Caught on Camera: 2 policemen fight with each other allegedly over bribe in Prayagraj

Unlike 2016 unrest, no casualties so far in JandK: Official

Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir), Aug 13 (ANI): Rohit Kansal, Principal Secretary Planning Development and Monitoring Department of Jammu and Kashmir, reiterated government's stand of no large scale protest in the region, and said unlike the unrest of 2016 when 37 people had died within the first week, no "single casualty" has taken place so far in JandK. Kansal added that by imposing "reasonable restrictions", the government at least has been able to save human lives in JandK which was put on lockdown ahead of removal of Article 370 on August 05.
