In a first, women officers to lead Independence Day parade in Naxal-hit Dantewada

Dantewada (Chhattisgarh), Aug 13 (ANI): In a first, the Independence Day parade in Naxal-hit Dantewada region of Chhattisgarh will be led by a female platoon of Bastariya Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and 'Danteshwari Ladake'. The parade will be led by a 30-member all women Anti-Naxal Commando Unit which also includes surrendered women Naxals. The commander of 'Danteshwari Ladake', Dineshwari Nand said the inclusion of surrendered women Naxals in the Independence Day parade is very significant and it will inspire women Naxals to be a part of mainstream.

'Dream Girl' cast launches trailer in Mumbai

Mumbai, Aug 13 (ANI): Bollywood star Ayushmann Khurrana's upcoming movie 'Dream Girl' trailer has been launched. In the trailer, actor is seen playing female mythological characters for local stage shows and also he picks a 'dial a friend' job where he speaks to people as Puja. Belgavi (Karnataka), Aug 13 (ANI): Speaking on Karnataka flood situation, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Training Command Air Marshal SK Ghotia informed that rescue operation is underway in Hampi since August 08. Air Marshal AK Ghotia said, "Rescue operations are underway since August 08. Currently, operations are underway in Hampi, people are being rescued and being taken to Vijayanagar. We have appointed the base commander of Belagavi Air Force camp as the task force commander."

Police should prepare themselves for changing challenges: CM Gehlot

Jaipur (Rajasthan), August 13 (ANI): In a meeting to review the law and order situation in the state, organized at Chief Minister's office in Jaipur, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said that Rajasthan Police should change its image and work with the mission to become number one police force in the country. He said that in the changing social environment the nature of crime is also changing. So it is big challenge to effectively curb these crimes. Police officer should adopt new technology and methods to increase their work efficiency. Addressing the meeting Gehlot said that Khap Panchayat, Honour Killing, Inter-Caste marriages and in other sensitive issues related with social malpractices, police can make aware and educate the society to control large number of crimes. In the meeting Chief Minister also invited suggestions in relation to improve police functioning from the police officers present at the meeting.

Jaipur (Rajasthan), August 13 (ANI): Addressing the review meeting on development of renewable energy sector in the state organized at his office in Jaipur, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said that State Government is determined to make Rajasthan a solar hub. For this a better policy will be brought soon, which will be in the interest of the state as well as beneficial to the consumer. Chief Minister said that today Rajasthan is the leading state in the country in the field of solar and wind energy. Chief Minister also emphasised that necessary efforts will be made in coming five years to generate additional ten thousand megawatts of power from this sector. In this direction, the state government is going to bring a new solar and wind energy policy. He suggested the officials to make such provisions in the new policy, so that more solar plants should develop in the state in a short period of time and attract new investment for solar parks.

Sonbhadra massacre: Priyanka Gandhi meets kin of victims

Maharashtra floods: Death toll mounts to 43 in 5 districts

Kolhapur/Rajapur (Maharashtra), Aug 13 (ANI): The flood situation in several districts of Maharashtra remained critical. Personnel of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) saved the life of a goat and rescued it from the flood water in Maharashtra's Kolhapur. NDRF teams are also carrying fodder with them for affected animals. Meanwhile, relief materials were distributed in flood affected areas by the rescue team in Maharashtra's Rajapur on August 12. Death toll due to flood in all five districts of Pune division including Sangli, Kolhapur, Satara, Pune and Solapur rose to 43. Three people are still missing and 4,74,226 people have been evacuated from 584 villages. 596 temporary shelter camps have been set up for evacuated people. 7 Indian fishermen apprehended by Sri Lankan Navy

Rameswaram (Tamil Nadu), Aug 13 (ANI): The Sri Lankan Navy apprehended seven Indian fishermen in Tamil Nadu's Rameswaram on August 13. They were apprehended near Delft Island and further taken to Kangesanthurai naval camp. The Sri Lankan Navy also seized one country made boat which was allegedly used for poaching in the Sri Lankan territorial waters. Straying of Indian and Sri Lankan fishermen into each other's waters is a recurrent problem as territories on the sea are not clearly demarcated. While speaking to ANI, State Secretary of Tamil Nadu Fisher Work Federation, CR Senthilvel said, "Today, seven of Indian fishermen who were undertaking fishing activity near Delft Island have been detained by the Sri Lankan Navy. They are being interrogated but we really don't know that why our innocent fishermen are being detained every often. Our fishermen are detained and this trend continued unabated."

Kerala floods: CM Vijayan chairs meeting with officials as death toll mounts to 88

Wayanad (Kerala), Aug 13 (ANI): Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan held meeting with the state ministers over flood situation in Kerala's Wayanad on August 13. Principal Secretary and other district officials were also present in the meeting. The flood situation in Kerala has worsened, with lakhs of people displaced and humans and animals have died.
