Maharashtra floods: Team of 100 doctors sent to Kolhapur, Sangli, says CM Fadnavis

Sangli (Maharashtra), Aug 10 (ANI): Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis visited flood-affected areas of Kolhapur and Sangli in Maharashtra on August 10, to review the situation. While speaking to ANI, Devendra Fadnavis in Sangli said, "Indian Navy teams from Vishakhapatnam are arriving today as Shirol area in Kolhapur is severely affected; 95 boats are operating in Sangli. A team of 100 doctors is being sent to Kolhapur and Sangli. There is no lack of medicines." "As flood water recedes, we will focus on providing drinking water and restoring power," he added.

Over 95 cows die mysteriously in Andhra Pradesh's 'gaushala'

Krishna (Andhra Pradesh), Aug 10 (ANI): Over 95 cows died in a 'gaushala' in Kotturu Tadepalli village in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh. The reason of the deaths is unknown but locals are blaming the green grass which was brought to feed the cows. Cow shelter authorities immediately informed the police after knowing the situation. Police rushed to the shelter and started the investigation. Autopsy has been done and police is waiting for the reports to take further action. There are almost 1,600 cows in the shelter.

Amritsar-Lahore bus returns empty from Pakistan

Amritsar (Punjab), Aug 10 (ANI): After Pakistan announced to suspended bus services with India, the Amritsar-Lahore bus which had gone to Lahore returned to Amritsar without any passenger. The driver of the bus said Pakistan did not give a written statement on the suspension of the bus service yet. "We have not got any official or written statement from Pakistan regarding the suspension of bus service yet. Their terminal officer informed just verbally," the driver told ANI.

K'taka floods: Water from Tunga River enters residential areas, locals evacuated

15 hospitalised for snake bite in AP's Krishna

Krishna (Andhra Pradesh), Aug 10 (ANI): After being bitten by snakes, 15 people from several villages were admitted to the primary health care centre in Andhra Pradesh's Krishna district. The incident took place in Movva Mandal area of Krishna district. While speaking to ANI, Doctor Sivaramakrishna of Movva government health care centre said, "15 victims of snake bite came here. We kept them under observation, tested blood and gave them anti-snake venom injection. All are out of danger now. Anti-snake venom injection is available in all government hospitals in the district. So people need not worry." The hospital authorities said that 90 people have been given anti-snake venom injection since August 01 till date. 2 gates of Bhopal's Bhadbhada Dam open following heavy rainfall

New Delhi, Aug 10 (ANI): CWC meeting is underway at AICC headquarters in Delhi on Aug 10. Congress leaders including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Manmohan Singh, Meira Kumar arrived at Congress headquarters to attend the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting on Saturday. NDRF continues relief operation in flood-hit Maharashtra's Sangli

Sangli (Maharashtra), Aug 10 (ANI): The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) officials are rigorously undertaking the relief operations in the flood-hit Sangli district in Maharashtra. The district is one of the worst hit by the incessant rains. The NDRF team is evacuating locals in Haripur village which has submerged in water. An NDRF official told ANI that the flow of water in the village is very strong and therefore women and children are being prioritised during evacuation. 2 NRI businessmen donate Rs 14 crore to Tirumala Temple

Tirumala (Andhra Pradesh), Aug 10 (ANI): Two US-based Non-Resident Indian (NRI) businessmen donated Rs 14 crores to the famed hill shrine of Lord Balaji in Tirumala on August 09. The donation was done on the auspicious occasion of 'Varalakshmi Pooja' on the second Friday in the month of 'Sawan' as per Telugu calendar. After performing special 'pooja' along with their families, the two businessmen donated Rs 14 crores. The businessmen handed over cheque of Rs 14 crore to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) special officer AV Dharma Reddy. The NRIs asked Reddy to use the money for service activities. The two NRIs, in July 2018 too had donated Rs 13.5 crores to the temple.

Schools reopen in Jammu, Section 144 is still imposed with some exceptions

Jammu, Aug 10 (ANI): Normal life resumed in Jammu and Kashmir's several districts on August 10. Schools have been reopened after six days in Jammu. Section 144 has been imposed in the Valley since midnight of August 04 which prevents gathering of more than four people in an area. Any pre-planned congregation or sudden unforeseen congregation of ritualistic nature shall be conducted with prior approval. Vulnerable areas in the city are being monitored closely by the security personnel. On August 09, schools in Samba, Udhampur and Kathua districts were reopened.
