Punjab saint attacked by 'drug addicts' in Hoshiarpur, sustains head injury

Hoshiarpur (Punjab), Apr 25 (ANI): A saint, Pushpinder Maharaj, in Punjab's Hoshiarpur was attacked by a group of unidentified miscreants on April 23. He has suffered head injury. Speaking to ANI, he said that they were local drug addicts who wanted money, and emphasised that the incident must not be politicised. "The attackers had no sharp weapon; don't think their motive was to kill me. They were local drug addicts who just wanted money. They took away my money and left. This incident must not be politicised," said Pushpinder Maharaj.

Over 2000 migrants arrived in UP from Haryana, will be sent for quarantine: Govt

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), Apr 25 (ANI): Around 2,224 migrant workers arrived in Uttar Pradesh from Haryana on April 25, the state government informed. "2,224 migrant workers from Haryana have arrived in the state today in 82 buses. They will be quarantined before being sent to their respective homes," said Additional Chief Secretary for Home Affairs of Uttar Pradesh.

Migrant workers group in MP take bicycles to reach home state Bengal amid lockdown

Migrant workers in Gujarat can go back to home states with their own vehicles: BJP MP

Surat (Gujarat), Apr 25 (ANI): The stranded migrant workers in Gujarat are allowed to return back to their hometown but via their own vehicles. Member of Parliament from Gujarat, C R Patil said, "As industries are closed here in the wake of coronavirus pandemic. We had requested Home Minister Amit Shah to give permit to migrant workers to go back to their native places who have their own vehicles." However, those who don't have their own means for transportation has to stay in the state.

Karnataka JD(S) legislator, son booked for protesting tests of journalists

Mandya (Karnataka), Apr 25 (ANI): Karnataka MLC from Janata Dal (Secular), KT Srikantegowda, and his son among others have been booked for staging protesting against COVID-19 tests organised at Ambedkar Bhavan for journalists in Mandya. While talking about the incident, Deputy Commissioner of Mandya, Doctor MV Venkatesh, said, "As per order by Health Department, we were conducting health test of journalists in Mandya, when MLC KT Srikantegowda of JD(S) and locals protested against it. Test of 15 journalists was conducted yesterday and today we did 27 tests." However, later police took accused into the custody. "We have got a written complaint by journalist association about some local residents protesting against the test organised at Ambedkar Bhavan, we will investigate the matter and take action accordingly," Deputy Commissioner further said.

COVID-19 lockdown: No order to open salons and liquor shops, says MHA Joint Secy

New Delhi, Apr 25 (ANI): Joint Secretary Ministry of Home Affairs Punya Salila Srivastava informed that no order has been given to open salons and liquor shops. "Hair salons and barber shops render services. Our order is applicable on shops which deal in sale of items. There is no order to open barber shops and hair salons. There is no order to open liquor shops too," said Srivastava. She also added that new orders of MHA stated that there is no order to open restaurants of any kind. "As per the new orders of Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) there is no order to open restaurants, no order to open any kind of restaurant," said Srivastava after government allowed standalone and neighbourhood shops to open.

Gujarat govt yet to decide on re-opening of shops in urban areas

Ahmedabad (Gujarat), Apr 25 (ANI): In an order issued on April 24, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has allowed shops to open from April 25 onwards. Reacting on the MHA's order, Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel on Saturday said that the implementation of MHA's decision in urban areas will be taken after the meeting with the CM which will be held in afternoon. He said, "We'll easily implement the decision to open shops in rural areas. But as far as implementation in urban areas is concerned, we'll do it as per conditions in Centre's notification. A meeting, chaired by CM, will be held in afternoon and decision to be taken after discussion."The MHA statement also stated that the order applies only to the local shops registered with the municipal corporation.

COVID-19: SpiceJet freighter carrying medical supplies from China landed in Delhi

COVID-19: IAF transports over 20 tonnes of medical supplies to North-East India
