Postpaid mobile services resume in Srinagar, locals hail decision

Srinagar, Oct 14 (ANI): Postpaid mobile services have finally been restored in Srinagar on October 14. Locals can now easily connect with the near and dear ones. The decision to resume the services was taken after reviewing the situation in the Valley as per told by Principal Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir Rohit Kansal. One of the locals said, "We had faced problems in these 70 days. We were not able to connect with our brothers who live far away from us. We were incomplete without the phones." Other local said, "We are really happy that mobile services have finally resumed as we were not able to connect with our loved ones." All network and landline connections were suspended across Jammu and Kashmir on August 05 after abrogation of Article 370.

Sourav Ganguly selected as new BCCI president: Rajeev Shukla

Mumbai, Oct 14 (ANI): Indian Premier League (IPL) Chairman Rajeev Shukla on October 14 informed that former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly has been selected as new BCCI president. He also hailed Ganguly's services toward Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) and his successful captaincy in Indian cricket team. On 23rd October, BCCI will announce the final list of the selected members, Shukla added.

Everything is going smoothly: FM Sitharaman on mergers of banks

New Delhi, Oct 14 (ANI): Union Minister of Finance, Nirmala Sitharaman met Chief Managing Directors (CMDs) of Public Sector in Delhi on October 14. Sitharaman said, "In this particular interaction with the bankers, there was a presentation given by Chief Economic Advisor (CEA) who showed based on the Monetary Policy Committee data from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on where the credit flows are happening, where the credit flow is getting congested." On mergers of the bank, FM Nirmala said, "On the merger of banks, everything is going smoothly, the bank boards have all been on board, they have taken the necessary steps to keep that process going smoothly."

Nagpur (Maharashtra), Oct 14 (ANI): Working president of Maharashtra Congress, Nitin Raut, continued the game of rhetorics and labeled Haryana Chief Minister ML Khattar a 'khacchar' after the latter called interim Congress chief Sonia Gandhi a 'mari hui chuhiya'. He said, "Haryana CM isn't Khattar but a 'khacchar'. If he wants to comment then he should say it about PM Modi." CM Khattar on October 13 took jibe on Sonia Gandhi's appointment as Congress interim president.

Top separatists chargesheeted in J-K terror funding case: NIA IG

New Delhi, Oct 14 (ANI): Chiefs of proscribed organizations and top separatist leaders from Jammu and Kashmir have been apprehended and chargesheeted under the terror funding case, informed National Investigation Agency (NIA) Inspector General Alok Mittal. He also highlighted that none of the arrested chiefs and separatist leaders got bail so far. "They were being funded from Pakistan High Commission, through remittances and hawala transfers," Mittal added. The NIA IG was addressing the gathering during an inaugural session of the national conference of Chiefs of ATS.

Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh increased activity in 4 states: NIA DG

New Delhi, Oct 14 (ANI): National Investigation Agency's (NIA) national conference of Chiefs of Anti-Terrorism Squad/ Special Task Force took place in Delhi on October 14. Minister of States for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy, National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval, National Investigation Agency (NIA) DG YC Modi, former IB Special Director and Nagaland Governor RN Ravi were present at the event. Speaking at the event, NIA DG, Yogesh Chander Modi said, "We noticed that Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) increased their activities in Bihar, Maharashtra, Kerala and Karnataka. Names of 125 suspects have been shared with related agencies."

Majority of Indians who joined ISIS were radicalised through Zakir Naik's videos: NIA IG

New Delhi, Oct 14 (ANI): National Investigation Agency (NIA) Inspector General Alok Mittal on October 14 said that majority of accused arrested in ISIS cases confessed that they saw Zakir Naik's videos during their radicalisation process. "The majority of the 127 arrested people confessed that during their radicalisation process, they saw Zakir Naik's videos, other videos have also been seen but Zakir Naik's name came on the top," said Mittal. "The local party's leader was in touch with the handler from Afghanistan, Pakistan or Syria, the handler channelised the activity." It is be noted that a chargesheet has been filed against Naik and his extradition request has been sent to Malaysian government regarding the case. The NIA has been investigating the ISIS cases since November 2014. Total 28 cases have been investigated and 127 people have been arrested.

FATF pressure on Pakistan bigger than any action: Ajit Doval

New Delhi, Oct 14 (ANI): National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval attended the National Investigation Agency's (NIA) national conference of Chiefs of Anti-Terrorism Squad/Special Task Force in Delhi on October 14. Speaking at the event on challenges of terrorism, Doval said the proceedings of Financial Action Task Force (FATF) have created immense pressure on Pakistan, and is bigger than any action that could be taken against the rogue nation. "One of the biggest pressures that has come on Pakistan today is because of the proceedings of Financial Action Task Force (FATF), it has created so much pressure on them that probably no other action could have done," Doval said. Further speaking on state's role in curbing terrorism, Doval said "If a criminal has the support of a state, it becomes a great challenge. Some of the states have mastered this, in our case Pakistan has made it as an instrument of its state policy."

King of Netherlands meets PM Modi in Delhi

Urged FM Sitharaman to include aviation fuel, natural gas in GST ambit: Dharmendra Pradhan

New Delhi, Oct 14 (ANI): The government is mulling to include aviation turbine fuel and natural gas in the ambit of Goods and Services Tax (GST). Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan on October 14 said that his ministry has appealed to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to take cognizance of the appeal. The Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister also showed his confidence that the Finance Minister will be able to convince the GST Council to take the 'progressive decision.' "We've appealed to Finance Minister that at least aviation turbine fuel and natural gas should come in the ambit of GST. I'm confident that at an appropriate time she will be able to convince GST Council to take this progressive decision," Pradhan told reporters in the national capital.

Man-eating tiger captured in Karnataka's Chamarajanagar

Chamarajanagar (Karnataka), Oct 14 (ANI): A man-eating tiger was captured by forest department from Bandipore forest of Karnataka. The man-hunter tiger had killed two people and several animals in a span of 3 months. The forest department was searching for the tiger for last one week. 5-day long Multi-Class National Ranking sailing event concludes in Goa's Panaji

Panaji (Goa), Oct 14 (ANI): A five-day long Multi-Class National Ranking event in sailing concluded in Goa's Panaji on October 13. The event took place at Dolphin Adventure Sports in Hawaii Beach, Dona Paula. The event was kick-started on October 09 and was hosted by the Goa Yachting Association for the first time.
