New Delhi, Sep 30 (ANI): Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (IDS), Lieutenant General PJS Pannu visited National War Memorial on September 30. He paid homage to the bravehearts of the country. Speaking to ANI, Lt Gen PJS Pannu said, "I have been fortunate to have been associated with this iconic structure. Forces are represented here in a manner that how much sacrifices the soldiers have made." National War Memorial was inaugurated on February 25 this year by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a tribute to slain soldiers of Armed Forces, who have laid their lives for country post-independence.
Patna (Bihar), Sep 30 (ANI): Indian Air Force (IAF) choppers airdropped relief materials and food packages for people, in flood-affected Patna. Dewatering machines have also been sought by the state to provide relief in the area. Several parts of Bihar are battling with heavy rain and flood, which has thrown normal life out of gear. According to Bihar State Disaster Management Authority, at least 29 people have died due to rainfall. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy CM Sushil Modi also held meeting with officials of flood-affected districts via video conferencing.
New Delhi, Sep 30 (ANI): Director General of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), SN Pradhan, said the NDRF teams are consistently functioning for safety of civilians in flood-affected Bihar. He said, "The situation is unprecedented, it's almost like a cloud burst. Impact is mainly due to water logging. Out of 19 NDRF teams deployed, 5 are in Patna. We've evacuated about 4,000 citizens since morning." Many parts of Bihar including capital Patna are battling with heavy rain and flood, which has thrown normal life out of gear.
Kathmandu (Nepal), Sep 30 (ANI): The ten-day-long Hindu festival, Dashain, also known as Bada Dashain, one of the most important festivals observed by the Hindus in Nepal formally began from Sunday with Ghatasthapana. Bareilly (UP), Sep 30 (ANI): In 1857, a temple of Lord Krishna, 'Mohan Mandir' was built in the Patti village located in the Senthal nagar Panchayat of Bareilly district. Its foundation was laid by Mir Mohammad Zafar, the younger son of the then Nawab of Senthal, Galib Ali. Carrying a huge historical significance, today this temple has completely demolished with only small structure left on the place. So, in order to bring its pervious glory back and get it reconstructed, a Muslim man, Urfi Raza Zaidi who belongs to the same village is making all his efforts for its revival, presenting a big example of communal harmony. New Delhi, Sep 30 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party released first list of 78 candidates for Haryana assembly polls on Sunday (September 30). Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar of the BJP will contest the state election from Karnal assembly seat, while sportspersons- wrestlers Babita Phogat and Yogeshwar Dutt have got BJP tickets. However, BJP has not declared candidates of 12 assembly seats. Haryana is going to polls on October 21. The last day for filing nomination is October 4. The final results will be declared on October 24 after counting of votes.
Ranchi (Jharkhand), Sep 30 (ANI): Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das welcomed President Ram Nath Kovind at Ranchi University in behalf of more than three crore people of the state. He also chaired a meeting over the flood situation in Bihar's Patna. He met with MLAs and District Administration officials. He said that all gates of Farakka Dam have been opened in view of massive water-logging in many parts of Bihar including Patna. Law and Justice Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said, "Bigger pumps from Coal India will be made available. NDRF has informed that there are enough boats." "One helicopter has reached and another will come from Gorakhpur to provide relief materials. We will do whatever we can for people of Patna and Bihar. Wardha (Maharashtra), Sep 30 (ANI): A khadi industry has been established in Maharashtra's Wardha to empower the women at large scale. This industry has been set up with a motive to promote khadi products and also to provide employment opportunities to the women. While speaking to ANI, the Project Head of khadi industry Poornima Rohan Bhamkar said, "Khadi and Wardha have a unique relation. Wardha city is famous after Gandhiji and he did a campaign on khadi." Ballia (UP), Sep 30 (ANI): Following incessant rain in the region, Uttar Pradesh's Ballia is facing flood-like situation in the region. The Ballia Jail is also facing the intensity of flood as the floodwater entered in jail barracks. Seeing the situation, the inmates of the jail are being shifted to different jails. According to, "Around 500 inmates are being sent to Azamgarh Jail and others are shifted to Ambedkar Nagar Jail." Jail administration is taking help of roadways and private buses to shift the jail inmates.
