New Delhi, Jul 09 (ANI): Running of the bulls at this year's San Fermin festival in the northern Spanish city of Pamplona kicked off. Several people have been injured at the traditional running of the bulls festival, with at least one man gored by a bull's horns. Rain before the race left the narrow streets more slippery than usual, with both bulls and runners slipping throughout the race. The nine-day San Fermin fiesta where the bulls are run was made popular by the American novelist Ernest Hemingway.
Baltimore (USA), Jul 08 (ANI): Institute of Human Virology in Baltimore honoured Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Health Minister K K Shailaja for state's action to prevent spreading of Nipah Virus. New Delhi, Jul 08 (ANI): Firefighters have been battling blazes breaking out in open grass across the UK. First major fires were reported on Saddleworth Moor, just outside Manchester, over a week ago. Since then North Wales has faced "unprecedented" wildfires with emergency services saying the they are under "tremendous pressure" as they battle to curb its spread. Similar grass fires have broken out in north-west, mid and south Wales, Malvern Hills near Worcester, moorland near Alton Towers in Staffordshire and Wallasey on Merseyside.There were more than 100 grass fires reported in the Liverpool area in last week
New Delhi, Jul 08 (ANI): At least eight people were killed and two million were forced to flee their homes due to massive flood and heavy rain in large areas of south-western Japan. The Fire and Disaster Management Agency of Japan informed that at least 51 people were injured and another 25 people are missing. Residents are being evacuated from areas of stricken Kurashiki, Okayama Prefecture, in south-western Japan. The Japan Meteorological Agency sent a high-level alert in large areas of western Japan, while it has lifted the warning in other regions. Heavy downpour is expected to continue through Sunday in the west and the east.

New Delhi, Jul 07 (ANI): Following up on his 'Rocket Man' comments for North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, United States (US) President Donald Trump has reportedly sent a signed CD of Elton John's 'Rocket Man' song with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. Pompeo is in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea for advancing denuclearisation talks with Kim, following the historic summit with Trump last month. Kim mentioned that Trump referred to him as 'rocket man' when tensions ran high last year. Trump had referred to Kim as Rocket Man in a tweet last year.
Islamabad (Pakistan), Jul 06 (ANI): The Accountability Court sentenced former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to 10 years of imprisonment on Friday in one of the three corruption cases. Phuket (Thailand), Jul 06 (ANI): At least one man died and scores of Chinese tourists went missing after a boat capsized off the popular southern island resort in Thailand. The boat, the Phoenix, was carrying nearly 105 passengers in the Andaman Sea. It was hit by massive waves which prompted it to keel over. The search operation resumed on Friday after helicopters dispatched to the search area. Nearly 49 people are still missing.
New Delhi, Jul 06 (ANI): A Chinese Company is producing flags for US President Donald Trump's re-election run in 2020, despite the looming threats of a Trade War. CNN reported that a factory in the Chinese province of Zhejiang began manufacturing flags since after China became part of the World Trade Organisation, according to a National Public Radio interview with the owner of the factory on its 'The Indicator' podcast. The factory also made flags for the campaigns of both Trump and Hillary Clinton in 2016. Two of the biggest economies in the world, China and the US, are slated to sanction trade tariffs on 34-billion-dollar worth of exports on Friday.
Simkot (Nepal), Jul 06 (ANI): Rescue operation for stranded pilgrims who are undertaking the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra through the Nepal route is almost completed. Pranav Ganesh, First Secretary (Consular), Embassy of India, Kathmandu informed the same. He said, "I hope your relatives are now out danger. It has been a very difficult evacuation process but now almost over and we are in total control. We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused during our operations but we couldn't have singled out one person for evacuation at other's expense". 883 pilgrims were evacuated from Simikot to Surkhet and from Simikot to Nepalganj. 53 civilian flights were operated and 142 choppers were engaged to rescue the pilgrims.
New Delhi, Jul 06 (ANI): The Donald Trump administration is conducting DNA tests in order to reunite children who are separated from their immigrant parents at the US-Mexico border. In a statement, the Health and Human Services (HHS) said that the DNA testing was a "faster and more accurate" method to comply with a court order to reunite children with the separated families by July 10. The method will also prevent the authorities from handing over the children to someone claiming to be a parent. US Department of Homeland Security and health personnel associated with the HHS will collect cheek swabs from children and parents and will send it to a DNA lab for verifying the relationship. The information would be used solely for verifying the relationship of a child with the parents and not for other purposes.

New Delhi, Jul 03 (ANI): At least six people have been killed in different incidents across Lahore as it faces heavy downpour since Monday night. A total 252 millimetres of rain has been recorded in the city in the last 24 hours, reported Geo TV. Two people were killed as the roof of their warehouse collapsed owing to the heavy rainfall and another person died of electrocution. Prior to this, three people were reportedly killed due to electrocution which was the result of the continuous downpour. Water was accumulated in low-lying areas of the city, affecting the traffic flow. As the rain continues to lash Lahore and other cities of Pakistan's Punjab province, as many as 150 electricity feeders have been said to be tripped.

Kathmandu (Nepal), July 03 (ANI): As many as 11 people have lost their lives as the heavy downpour lead to massive floods in Kathmandu on Monday. The monsoon havoc which started on Sunday has affected districts spanning from the eastern, central to the western regions. According to the data, a total of thousand houses were inundated across the plains. Likewise, total of eight districts have been affected due to the incessant rainfall. Three people each died in Rolpa and Banke districts on Monday. The rainfalls have also flooded most of the Province No. 2, with Birgunj and Janakpur cities among the most affected. The extreme rainfall, starting from Nepal, witnessed in the last few days was caused by the formation of a low pressure zone over the hills. The flood has also displaced hundreds of villagers residing near rivers and other water sources in the low lying plains of Nepal.
Kathmandu (Nepal), Jul 03 (ANI): Pilgrims undertaking the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra in Nepal were stranded in large numbers after heavy rains caused landslides at various locations. Indian Embassy in Kathmandu is providing medical care for the stranded pilgrims and made arrangements for food and water as well. The Embassy is monitoring the situation along Nepalgunj-Simikot-Hilsa route of Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, through Nepal. Due to bad weather conditions there is very little chance of operating evacuation flights. 1575 pilgrims are said to be stranded, 525 pilgrims in Simikot, 550 in Hilsa and another 500 more in Tibet side, who are safe as of Tuesday. The Embassy has undertaken various measures to ensure the safety and evacuation of pilgrims on all affected routes. They have asked tour operators to try and hold pilgrims back on the Tibet side since medical and civic facilities on Nepal side are inadequate. They have further been told to accord first priority in clearing up situation
Chiang Rai (Thailand), Jul 03 (ANI): Following massive rescue operations launched by the government of Thailand to locate football team of 12 boys and their coach proved fruitful on Sunday. A set of divers found the missing team in Tham Luang Cave in Chiang Rai. The boys were stuck in the flooded cave for 9 days. Authorities are preparing for their rescue and have started pumping out water from the cave. Although experts say that it may be months before the team can be taken out. With the onset of monsoon, water levels in the cave are feared to rise despite the continuous water pumping. At present the health of the team is first priority after which authorities will attempt their rescue.
