Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari met the spiritual leader of Ismaili Muslims, Prince Shah Karim Al Hussaini Aga Khan (IV), here on Tuesday.
The spiritual leader has been invited by the central government to receive India's second highest civilian award, the Padma Vibhushan, on April 8.
Recognised worldwide for his charity work, the Aga Khan is believed to be a direct descendant of Islam's revered Prophet Mohammed.
The Imam of the Shia Imami Ismailia Muslims calls him 'The Aga Khan'.
