| The Mumbai-based Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) in association with the Bombay Stock Exchange has launched a two-year full-time MBA in capital markets programme.

| It will have 30 papers dealing with management studies, capital markets concepts and operations, and practical training. The functioning of key markets, both Indian and international, their pricing mechanisms and the instruments built around them as well as the relation of markets with macro-economic fundamentals will be some of the focus areas of the course.

| Graduates, company secretaries, chartered accounts and those with experience in the financial sector can apply for the programme. The last date for receipt of applications is July 12. The programme will begin from July 30. The institute can be contacted at mba.capital@nmims.edu.

| PG diploma in KM

| The Delhi-based International Management Institute (IMI) has introduced a post-graduate diploma programme in knowledge management (KM), focussed primarily on middle and the senior level executives.

| The 11-month programme will cover areas such as aligning KM to business strategy; KM in the supply chain; innovation and R&D management; HR aspects of KM; intellectual property management; knowledge audit; and KM metrics.

| It comprises 11 compulsory courses with 30-hour classroom contact for each. IMI says that throughout the programme, the faculty and students will be linked through intranet, and a faculty-moderated e-group will help them interact with KM professionals on a regular basis.

| International experts on the subject will also be invited to explain the key concepts and share their experiences. The last date for submitting applications is July 25.

| SIFE championship

| Students in Free Enterprise or SIFE, a global non-profit organisation focused on developing entreprenuership skills in students and teaching them market economics and business ethics, recently conducted the SIFE 2005 National Championship in Mumbai.

| SIFE helped students form teams in B-schools and other institutes who developed community projects to create economic opportunities for that community's members.
|

| These teams competed at the country level at the 2005 National Championship. S P Jain Institute of Management (Mumbai) emerged as the final winner and it will participate in the SIFE World Cup 2005 in Canada. |
