| For Hrush Bhatt, founder and director, e-commerce and strategy, Cleartrip.com, technology means little more than a convenience (and can be either old-school or cutting-edge). This gadget enthusiast wants to own an iPhone but his landline is still attached to the anachronistic rotary dial phone — all because he’s too lazy to dispose of it!

| What were your favourite gizmo purchase(s) of the year?
|
| |
| A 42-inch Sony Bravia LCD TV and an old-school Vincent amplifier that has the most amazingly clear sound quality.
|
| |
| Which gadgets can’t you live without?
|
| |
| My 15”Apple laptop goes everywhere with me and has my whole life on it— all my music, movies, email and work. I also love the Apple Airport Express that plugs into my music system and lets me play the music from my laptop without any wires.

| What is the biggest life-saving application for today’s executive?
|
| |
| Pencil and paper. These two tools are underrated. I use them everyday, all the time, for lots of things— reminders, notes, to-do lists, designs, sketching ideas, et cetera. I could do all that with PDAs, BlackBerrys and other such toys, but I find them cumbersome and inflexible.
|
| |
| If I want to draw a picture, I have to use one application and if I want to draw a flowchart, I have to use another application. Pencil and paper let me do whatever I want, and if I leave them at home, I can use another and it won’t matter at all.

| What is the next gadget on your wishlist?
|
| |
| The iPhone. It’s an amazing device, and it’s about time. We mobile phone users have been plagued with horrid user interfaces for too long — most of them look and feel like someone drew them on the bus while on the way to work.

| Are you a blogger?
|
| |
| I’m a “corporate” blogger now. I used to have a personal blog, but abandoned that when we launched the Cleartrip blog (blog.cleartrip.com). If you really have something to say, blogs can be pretty fun.
|
| |
Which blogs do you patronise?
|
| |
|
37Signals SVN (37signals.com/svn)
Daring Fireball (daringfireball.net)
Airbag (airbagindustries.com)
|
| |
| What websites do you frequent the most?
|
| |
| Google and Cleartrip. I don’t really browse the web for fun or as a way to pass the time. I use it as a tool to find stuff for work or play. |
