Agra's soap company awarded

Agra-based Pee Cee Cosma Sope Ltd, a premier soap-manufacturing company of North India manufacturing and marketing the "Doctor" brand soaps and detergents, has been awarded for its "excellence in soap manufacturing sector" by the Union Ministry for Small-Scale Industries.

According to the company chairman, PK Jain, the "National Excellent Product" award was given by Union Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Small-Scale Industries Minister Mahavir Prasad to the company's unit located in Malanpur, Madhya Pradesh.

Notably, this is the second time that Pee Cee Cosma Sope has been given this award, the first time being in 1995, and this year, it was the only company in the soaps and detergents category to be given this award.

The company has recently moved quite a significant amount of its business from Agra to its units in Madhya Pradesh and Uttaranchal while shifting its focus from soap manufacture to real estate in Agra.
